Yao's been grossly overpaid for the last 3 seasons.

Bogut is a excellent passer, solid rebounder, good shot blocker and he can even score well when he was the center of the offense.(Don't believe? You can always check his stats when Redd and Mo William are injured).

Those who said he put up some great stats simply because he plays in the East are the same as those haters who said Yao put up great stats because he has no competition like Hakeem did in the 80s/90s.

Yi only fans complained yi played poorly because the bucks did not know how to use him. Well, let me tell you something, the bucks definitely dont know how to utilize Bogut's talents else Bogut's stats would be much better!

Honestly, after Dwight Howard, Andrew Bogut is consider the 2nd best center in the East. I say he worths the money!

Bogut is a better rebounder, but IMHO Okafor is a lot better on offense, and I mean A LOT.

All and all, Bogut and Okafor's numbers are very close with FG%, PPG, FT%, TRB, BLK, and ever PER.

Bogut stands out as a better passer.

Okafor stands out as the leader in BA - his shots most likely blocked by opponents.

One more thing is that the Bucks guards didnt want the offense go to the low post. Mo Will & Redd like to jerk it up from the perimeter. The Bucks had a fight between the players and coach last season because of this.

But under new coach Scott Skiles, I think Skiles will go to the post more often. Skiles has a more authoritive personality than the previous coach. Bogut will probably get more opportunities this coming season.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I was looking for "ESBN" when I read this. Over $14 mil a year?

Either Redd or Williams is gone.

It's not really 72 millions deal. It's 60 millions guaranteed plus 12.5 millions bonus.

Agree with aussierocket, and he has definitely been hard on other down under prospects.

My worry with Bogut, as per the video and his NBA commentary, is that he will get bitter, or more bitter, and be a terrible NBA teammate. That would be the only reason this could be a bad bad deal for the Bucks.

I have no idea what his teammates think of him.

    Apparently most of you seem to have failed to read the article, except of doublebogey... since it clearly states that the deal is essentially for 5 years 60 million with the other 12million NOT GAURANTEED but rather based on performance and team. 5 yr 60 million for a young center average close to 15 and 10 isnt exactly as horrible as most of you are making it sound, especially with the way the contract is supposedly set up;
Another noteworthy quote from the article from Bogut's agent, David Bauman
quotes are from the article linked in the first thread http://blogs.jsonline.com/bucks/archive/2008/07/09/bogut-bucks-agree-on-5-year-extension.aspx

It's not as bad, but it's still well above his true value. NBA centers do enjoy a heavily inflated market value, but you have to wonder. You can only pay so many guys on your team double-digit millions before you're swimming in red. Small markets like Milwaukee are going to have a tough time paying 3 stars $12+ million each. Luxury tax is $70M, their revenue isn't much beyond that number (if it even is), and that's 3 of your 12 man roster already costing you $40 million a year. And good luck trading Bogut at that price.

Also - how many team are out there with enough cap space each year to sign him to a contract at or above $10 million? Out of those (3? 4?) teams, how many would chose to toss that money on him as opposed to an actual All-Star? Bucks just outbid themselves for his services.

Good on him for getting paid like that.

I dont know I'd be over the moon with it if it was my team...but my team isnt an unfashionable small market club that would struggle to attract a big man of the quality anyway.

He seems to have rubbed a few people up the wrong way which is interesting. I havent seen his supposed anti american comments.

I know when he came into the NBA he caused a bit of contraversy by saying he was the best Australian player of all time on the night he was drafted. A few people were upset by that, but to be honest, he is right.

i don't see bogut give the bucks more production the next 3 seasons than the often-injured yao did the rox the last 3 seasons.

I'd suggest that what ever the Rockets pay Yao its incredible value for the team.

No other club can claim to have as many viewers fo their games as the Rockets do. When you take in the Chinese audience and how sponsors much love that exposure, I bet Yao is money in the bank no matter what he is payed.
