Andre would trade "the pick".

Wow, for a guy who needs a QB - badly - it speaks volumes that he'd prefer the Texans trade their number one pick. He must not be very enamored with Bridge, Bortles, or Manziel. Maybe he's hoping the Texans trade for a veteran play caller, so he doesn't have to exhaust the tail end of his career watching the team wet nurse a rookie?

Blake Bortles will not be a franchise QB, he is big and has some good college game but may be 3-4 years away from being an ok player. He could very well be another Matt Schaub. Manziel would be an interesting pick but if we go QB you have to go with the guy who is accurate, poised, can run, calls audibles at the LOS...Bridgewater. Now, here is my idea. Trade the pick down to #3 or #4 and get some extra second or third round picks as well. Draft Clowney at that spot and then snag Mettenberger or Aaron Murray in the second round. You get a QB and build depth for the rest of the roster. There are no FA qbs worth signing and hanging onto schaub is not a solution at this point.

Yeah it makes sense. A lot of people think that there isn't a QB worth a top 10 pick, so trading down and letting other teams reach on "meh" type prospects would be the way to go if you weren't going to go with the best player in the draft, Clowney.

Clowney and Watt will be beasts next to each other on that defense! Along with Cushing. What I am worried about on defense is Crenell not utilizing JJ properly. But we will see, as for the QB I think we could maybe use an extra pick obtained by trading down with Cleveland or JAX and send it to washington for Cousins. And still draft one in the second round and let those two battle for the starting job. Mettenberger is a big qb that O'brien likes and can sling the ball, Murray can throw and also has legs to escape the pocket when needed a la Aaron Rodgers type player.

That's not surprising. If I were a receiver in the phase of his career I would want them to trade for more talent that could produce now as well and go after a FA vet.

Still that's not his decision to make.

It's not his decision to make but it's probably the right decision to make... And I bet J.J. would want the Texans to trade the pick as well. Clowney may be the best defensive prospect, but that doesn't mean he will be the best defensive player...

I hope the Texans trade down IF there's another team that wants to move up and they should do it even if they're not getting an RG3 type haul.

Maybe Dre should be telling the Texans to trade him as well. There's only so much longer he can keep playing at the level he played at last year.

The Texans should put him out his misery and ship him off to an NFC playoff team and possibly get a couple of mid round picks for him in next year's draft and get his contract off the books. Because a new coach, new quarterback, and a suspect roster could equal no H.O.F. for Dre.

    This.

I didn't really think of it, but smart by Andre. We all have dismissed Schaub as gone, but until he actually is this was a good thing to say.
