Haha, nice attempt to pose yourself as a Texans fan you Titans troll. PS- your sig plus my sig work pretty well together
Absolutely ZERO sympathy for Andre, and this despite a huge fan of his. He signed in 07 for what was at the time a huge contract for an elite WR. The Texans didn't short change him on that in money nor guaranteed money. It's not the Texans fault that bonus money started going out of whack since the contract was signed. If Andre wanted the big payday, he should've told the Texans to hold off on the extension, and then he'd have gotten Fizgerald money in terms of guaranteed jack. But he didn't.
Sucks but I agree, they've stood their ground with everyone else, I hope they do the same with Dre, sucks.
Yeah kind of puzzling that he agreed to an 8 yr deal to being with. According to Adam Schefter, AJ negotiated that deal himself. I think something will be resolved where the Texans guarantee him a portion of what remains on his contract or front load the remainder of that contract. I can't imagine the texans will rip up his current deal and give him a new contract.
I'm glad you are not our GM. You would most likely trade him for a Chicken Fried Steak or a 3 lb lasagna (per your own description of yourself). Worthless Titans troll is worthless
I believe it was 6-yr extension, when he had 2 years left. As for AJ negotiating for himself, I don't see how he screwed himself out of more money(especially considering agent fees). Did anyone thought in 07 that Andre got pwned by the Texans the way Ricky got screwed? I don't remember AJ becoming a laughing stock because the Texans killed him in contract negotiations. The only reason he's pouting now is because the NFL has started to move towards more guaranteed money. And Andre missed that opportunity because he wanted financial stability. That's the cost of doing business. If you want security, you have to give up any potential change in future market. You can't have it both ways unless maybe you're prime Manning or Brady. AJ's not in that league.
They didn't? I don't see Green fighting the Texans in court because they withheld his bonus money or salary. They paid all the money guaranteed to him.
At 29 Johnson's value will never be this high again. I say flip him for 2 first rounders if possible. Some of you might think I'm crazy, but the guy is getting into his 30's and history shows that WRs at those age, their game starts to drop. He might have maybe 2 years left at playing at an elite level, but after that, we'll might lucky to get a 3rd rounder after he turns 31, 32.
The cut him to now pay him the other two years. Why did they not honor the full 4 years? Why should AJ be expected to honor the full 5 but . . . the reverse not be true? Rocket River
Same here(zero sympathy), this is what I meant to say before. He can either accept the contract he signed... or keep crying and then be traded for rebuilding pieces. We can't let some diva WR hold the franchise hostage, who does this guy think he is.
Kate81, you're a Titans fan. DWI. If I was one, I'd shoot myself too. Pay the man, Rick. Real simple. Give Dre a blank check, and let him fill it out.
I know Andre Johnson, is in the top 3 of WRs, but he still has 5 years in his contract, his current contract was made in 2007, wait a bit more to ask for more money. But I wouldnt want to lose him, so make a deal with him. Dunta is not a top 3 in his position, so he cant say that he needs a raise. Hey Titans fan, Chris Johnson wants to renew a contract too, and he didnt go to OTAs like AJ, why dont the titans trade CJ, and start rebuilding around vince young, he is the star of the franchise.
Do you have no concept of how NFL contracts work? Or do you just like being an a-hole for the sake of being one?
Imagine if AJ were underperforming....you think he'd rework he'd say, "awww, shucks...i'm just not earning my keep around here. Let's cut some of this money you're spending on me, Bob." of course not. i'd be more sympathetic probably if there weren't freaking 5 years left. Andre traded higher dollars for stable dollars over a longer period of time. That was at his insistence signing a deal that long. Now it's not enough. Sorry...but I think this looks pretty crappy.
