Thinking about it, I had forgotten more about Marion's show-stopping abilities and was thinking more of Anthony filling the lane all the time. But, on second thought, Marion's probably better in the athleticism department, and I agree with your assessment.
Denver's got a very solid team. They're still very young though. Carmelo will be the go-to guy eventually. I can see this Denver team turning into a Dallas-lite. Hilario brings a good inside presence, while Tskita is a Nowitzki type.
Ya I was thinking of the Clippers. TJ would have been a good replacement for 'Dre though Jaric is also a nice player. With the Clippers most likely losing Kandi, Kaman will probaly fill his spot so I guess that pick makes sense. Though Im not sure what the Clippers are trying to accomplish with letting everybody walk
Kiki Vandeweghe becoming general manager is the best thing that ever happened to the Nuggets. Carmello Anthony, Andre Miller, and maybe Corey Maggette in one summer? Thats incredible. So what would their depth chart/lineup look like next season??
I think the Clips will match for Maggette but not for Miller. Just idle speculation--but Maggette is the better value (Dre has a lot more question after last season). Oh wait a 2nd. I have a feeling maybe the Nugs purposely signed Maggette knowing the Clips will likely match. Sure they would love to have him--but they know Clips will likely match. Maybe they are really hoping for 1 of the 2--and know Dre is more likely to land, but by making the Clips have to pay market value for Cory along for sure Brand helps their overall cause. Pretty smart I think.
I think that if the Paper Clips refuse to match offers on Andre and Maggette, the Nuggets will have put together a pretty good core of young players with Melo, that seven-foot Georgian and Nene. Now all they need is a couple of veterans, a couple of years to gell and they will be a playoff team.
Way to blow your useful cap room on 3rd tier stars kiki, bravo. Andre Miller is a decent pg, nothing more, and corey maggette is not a franchise player. They better hope two of anthony, hilario and nikoloz develop into superstars because if not they will be in the lottery for a long time.
Magette is not worth seven million. Take away Clipper inflation and he's worth around 5. Hey, Magette and MoT make the same amount of money...
Magette is 23 (and only played 1 yr of College) and Mo T is 26 and how much more does Magette play basketball at both ends, and how much more is he going to improve, not to mention he out rebounded MoT 5 to 3.6 and he is a shooting guard.
I think Denver's done a great job with their cap space. They've done the wise thing looking for the realistic signings. San Antionio was swinging for the bleachers with Kidd and O'Neal. They wiffed on both of them. In the meantime, they've missed out on Miller, Maggette, Payton, Malone, Howard, and other FAs. Denver didn't sign any superstars, but they've signed someone, at least. Besides, they got their stars from the draft; they just have to wait for them to develop. The cap space is great way for them to add some solid starters and rotation players at other positions while they wait for Anthony and Skita.
