Stop using career cumulative statistics when we are discussing a player who has played 10 seasons...... As stated previously, 2nd all time in yards per game for a career.
that's about right. AJs YPG and YPC will be the high points assuming they around as high as they are. But ultimately I think being dominant for a decade and a superbowl ring is plenty to get him in, regardless of TDs
AJ is not going to get near 20,000 yards. After this season he will be around 11,000 yards. I think that 15,000 yards is more likely and even that will be hard for a 31 year old WR. Injuries and lack of limelight have hurt AJ, but I think that if he can get to 15,000 yards he will get in the Hall of Fame.
Johnson, Carter, Owens, Moss and Harrison all have serious issues off the field and/or on the field.... it will make a difference. I am probably in the minority, but I also expect to see players such and Carter and other WR's to get in.... you cannot keep them out forever.
I think he'll get in. He'll be the first Texans with a shot and I can see the voters wanting to vote in the best Texan for years upon years into the hall just so we can have a representative. Watt is the only other one who has a chance.
Especially when he's got multiple rings. We know HOF voters are suckers for a guy with multiple rings from one team.
Andre has a long way to go before he can think about the Hall of Fame. His TD numbers pretty much suck...and even though TDs aren't everything, they still factor in greatly to the decision process of electing receivers into the Hall. I say 3 more years of current level production and then we can start talking Hall of Fame.
Football HOF will have voters deliberately not vote for him in the first few years of eligibility. Trust me personality has a lot to do with it. He will eventually get in, but i have a feeling it will take him a while. That is probably what the last poster meant by stating he will have trouble
A couple of things that will help him get over the hump if his numbers fall behind pace. 1) First Texan to get into the hall of fame ever. If not him, then who? I think that has some appeal to it for voters. Maybe I'm wrong. 2) His personality. Never rubbed anyone (media) the wrong way. Never complained. Just went to work even on terrible teams. Fresh of breath air when considering other WR. 3) Arguably the best WR in the league at least 2 years of his career. Gotta be the best at your position at some point to get into the Hall. 4) almost forgot to add...he had david carr throwing to him for however many years.
his Cortland Finnegan beat down should be more than enough to get into the HOF  all kidding aside, he has to get to 15k yards at least to get consideration. As others have said, his TD numbers are low compared to the others. He definitely has a good chance to go down as the first Texan in the HOF. Everyone will be rooting for him.
Andre Johnson lack of TDs, is because his first years, had awful QBs, and then, when he has a good QB, he gets a top 3 RB, that gets all the goal line TDs. Look Michael Irvin, he only had one season with 10 TDs, he only had 65 TDs in his career, he had 11904 yards in his career. Andre Johnson has 55 TDs and 10714 yards. He could surpass Michael Irvin in yards and TDs. The only thing missing in Andre Johnson career is a ring.
Andre Johnson. Jj watt. Kobe. Throw in Arian foster. These are the types of players that Ronny always praises because they come with class in addition to their genetic gifts. Half this board wrote off Andre as done , the other half was top busy stuffing themselves with cheese gorditas, and Ronny was the one guy who said chiggity check yourself before you wreck yourself cuz it ain't a comeback if Andre ain't involved. Class always prevails... Only fools are quick to write it off. What a legend.
As long as he gets enough seperation between #2 and himself, he'll have a chance. Doesn't have to hit 20K, just approach it. I think between the playoffs (extra games) and the fact that he's such a dilligent worker, he will have a legit chance at it. People were burying him early because of injuries, Andre wasn't burying himself, though. Dude doesn't have the look of a TO or Moss who is going to flame out the moment they hit 34.
I'm not forgetting anything. The poster said this season punched his ticket which means he'd get in if he retired at the end of this year. I simply pointed out that if he retired this year he'd be well below a lot of non hall of famers on the reception list.
His YPG will only go down though, most likely. Career cumulative statistics are much more important than per game statistics IMO.
