I'm suprised the Sixers would want so little for Iggy but if they are looking for youth and payroll flexibilty then lets do... Rox get Iggy - Obivous Sixers get Battier, Jason Thompson, Jermanie Taylor and Rox 2012 #1 - Sixer get payroll Flexiblity with Battier's deal, 2 young players to develop and an additional #1 pick in 2012. Kings get AB and Diop - Kings get their Pguard and a steady backup 5 to backup Cousins next year and insurance this season. Bobcats get Beno Uldrih - Point guard to go with Augustin and an alternative. Lowry/Ish Martin/Lee Iggy/Budinger Scola/Hill Yao/Miller
Perhaps but Iggy is a major upgrade to Shane, Taylor won't get playing time anyway and the 2012 pick would be the Knicks which should be pretty low assuming they sign Melo. I look at it as AB/Shane for Iggy...I make that deal.
I don't know if I'm remembering this right, but over the summer wasn't there a trade rumor going around saying something like Trevor, Taylor & Hill for Iggy? But it didn't go through because the 76ers wanted to see Iggy & Turner play together. I would think since it looks like they don't want alot in return, something along the lines of Jefferies, Taylor, a Knicks pick and either Hill or Patterson would work, at least they get the young talent they want, and a expiring contract, that seems better than what the Cavs are offering.
http://www.phillyburbs.com/opinions...ng-to-ascertain-value-of-all-our-players.html Team president Rod Thorn denied a published report, citing unnamed sources, claiming the Sixers are "attempting to trade" swingman Andre Iguodala. In an email response Sunday, Thorn said the Sixers are "trying to ascertain the value of all of our players. Big difference." - - - - - - - - - - - You have to enjoy the nuances of the language these guys used. "We're not trying to TRADE Iggy. We just want to see what his value is." The unspoken part after that: "So that we can trade him if we like the price we hear."
The Cavs have a very large trade exception, they could absorb him for nothing and give Philly massive tax relief. Link to blurb about Iggy and Cavs DD
They're under $70 million for this season from what I can see. No tax for them. But it would save them going forward.
They are only slightly over the LT, if they do this deal it would be savings, no doubt, but what kind of message do they send their fan base. They should be able to acquire good young talent, an expiring contract and/or a quality pick while getting under the tax without to much hassle.
I would love to have Iggy on the Rockets but I just don't see it happening for a multiple of reasons. First off is his salary. I don't see the Rockets offering up either Lowry or KMart in a trade for someone like Iggy. So just assuming the Rockets were to land Iggy in a trade they would have 33 million tied up in 3 players. The current salary cap is only 58 million and both Yao Ming and Aaron Brooks are looking for new salaries next season. While Yao will likely not be a max salary player next season, if he starts averaging a double double and playing 30 minutes a game after the all star break then he will get a salary in the 10 million a season or more range, IMO. Aaron will likely command a salary at least as much as Kyle's but probably more. I think Les is willing to pay extra salary but not for a team that is struggling just to make the play-offs. Does Iggy make us a contender? I don't know. Certainly not if Yao does not return to full health and certainly not if the team can not at least play good situational defense. How much of an improvement would Iggy make on this team? Would he improve the defense? We would almost certainly have to include Battier in any deal for Iggy and would that help our defense at all? Maybe a boost on offense but is that the problem? I like Iggy. He is a two way player and someone who is a good offensive option and a good defensive player. But I don't see him as a dominate offensive force that can put a team on his back on either end of the court during the closing minutes of a game.
Iggys contracted way too bloated; though i would love to have a player of iggys skill set, his contract is a major turn-off (for lack of a better term)
Good point. Thorn trying to parse words. Bill "it depends of what the meaning of is is" Clinton would be proud. lol
As I said before in this thread, offer up martin and the knicks pick and a player for him and young. I would rather have a team going forward of brooks, iggy, young, scola, and yao. In the near future, like after this season and with the progress of hill, i would trade scola maybe. This team needs bigger, longer athletes who can do multiple things.
Agreed... I think we keep it simple Jeffries/Battier, Patterson/Hill, Bud, Taylor and maybe a pick for Iggy... that way we would still be at least 2 deep at every spot AB/Lowry Martin/Lee Iggy/(Battier/Bud) Scola/Hayes Yao/Miller
