You don't think Hill is actual talent? Seems like no matter what he does, this guy doesn't get enough credit as a good young player with a high ceiling who's already showing progress toward that potential. That sounds to me like something every team covets. The only reason I'd be willing to part with him is because we have Scola.
If Iggy is going to make us a 40 win team rather a 36 win one, I dont see the point of it. Both his future salary and the picks and players we have to give up would detriment us in getting a player to build around. Iggy is good, but not a franchise player.
That's a myth -- the idea of one player being able to take a lottery-bound team and make it a championship team. One player is still one player. Iggy probably isn't enough to, alone, make the Rockets a championship contender. But he's talented on both sides of the ball, has a skill set that would fulfill some of this team's needs, and he's likely as good as or better than a high draft pick would turn out to be after a few years. He's young enough to be part of the team's ongoing rebuilding efforts.
Agreed, not opposed to acquiring Iggy but he isn't the savior. If we go after him, he must be part of a few different transactions to change the team completely. I would also think that if he is acquired then KMart may be history, I wouldn't want both their deals on the payroll.
If Lebron couldn't lead cleveland to a ring, why do U expect Iggy to lead a lottery bound Rockets team to a ring?
Fact - we need a superstar. Fact - Iggy is not a superstar. Fact - Iggy is the type of player a superstar would want to play with. Question: Does acquiring Iggy make it easier or harder to obtain a superstar? I'm don't feel qualified to say.
Tell that to the Garnett, Lebron, Carmelo, etc. They turned former lottery bound teams into multiple playoff appearances. Carmelo took the Nuggets to 7 playoff appearances including a Conference Finals appearance from his rookie year to now. Nuggets had been in the lottery for at least 5 straight years. LeBron took a team that missed the playoffs 7 straight seasons to 5 straight playoff appearances including the semi-finals. He left and they are lottery bound team again. Garnett took a team that missed the playoffs for 7 straight seasons into 7 playoff appearances and a Conference Finals. He left and they are a lottery team again.
We need that play making shooting guard who can do it on both ends aka Tmac replacement. Martin's defense ain't gonna cut it for this team. I'd probably also trade Scola, although I know I am alone on this one. I think Hayes and Hill will do fine at our PF positions, bringing back defense. We can trade Scola to get ourselves a nice SF back. I'm looking at a 3 way trade with OKC (for Green) and Sixers (for Iggy). Brooks/Lowry Iggy/Lee Green/Budinger Hill/Hayes Yao/Miller
At 4-11, making a trade for AI is pointless. If we had maybe a .500 record or so, I could see it. At this point, making a trade for just about ANYONE and losing cap flexibilty, young players and picks doesn't make sense. 4-11 changes everything. If the Rockets can get back to a respectable record by the trading deadline, I could see something happening. There is absolutely NO REASON to make a move that ruins the possibility of rebuilding if you have to until you know whether or not you will have to (rebuild).
Houston Trade Breakdown Change in Team Outlook: -2.2 ppg, +1.1 rpg, and -0.5 apg. May be pointless in terms of this year, but say we make the deal at the deadline then make a push for Gasol in the offseason. Brooks Martin Iggy Scola Gasol is pretty competitive. 4/5 26 and under.
We are only 7 games under .500 I understand some panic but to say that trade is pointless makes no sense to me, I mean someone like AI could easily help this team out. 7 games is not alot to make up especially with so much time left in the season. This team could start a 7 game win streak with our next game. Unlikely - yes, but impossible - no, this season isnt over yet and im all for a trade to help NOW, without blowing this team up completely.
which Gasol are you talking about. cuz the Pau one is definitely not available. and chance of getting Marc is also quite slim.
It isn't panic, it is being realistic. This team has not yet proven that they are anything better than a 4-11 team. You can say 'wait til Yao and Brooks get back' all you want, but they were there for the first few games. This team is not very good. You can blame the schedule, but then how do you explain losing to bad teams? Morey made the 'Win Now' moves this offseason. Resiging Scola and Lowry to long, big contracts and signing Miller. After those moves and having this record, I seriously doubt he is going to handicap this team with any more long term contracts unless he is absolutely sure that player will make the Rockets a contender. AI is a long shot, not a sure thing. Will the team be better? Yes. Will he make a 4-11 team a contender? Not likely. I was hoping the Rockets would get him last offseason, but now it does not make sense to make that trade. I don't see Morey giving away future cap flexiblity, picks and young talent for a long shot with a cap killing contract.
Rockets need to go 46-21(0.687) just to make 50 games, so they can make the playoffs and get eliminated. Unless the first 8 seeds get hit with massive injuries to their starting lineup, it is unlikely to happen.
I am talking about Marc. I am not sure what things are like in Memphis, but after all the money they spent on Gay, they may not have enough money to retain Gasol, Randolph and Mayo.
