iggy is basically an upgraded version of ariza. iggy has inconsistent shooting slumnps just like our pal ariza also.
I'm thinking if we were going to trade for Iggy it would be Battier + Jared + Draft Picks + Hayes/Budinger/Jordan Hill = Iggy + Speights/Young/Brackin/Hawes Because if I was the Sixer GM, I would not settle for battier, jared and draft picks for my star player.
A star player who averages 12ppg, can't shoot jumpers, and a bad free throw shooter. Sure, let's go all in on that.
Seeing that he is on a very crap team at the moment. By surrounding him with better player I am pretty sure he with produce good numbers and you will be eating your words at the end.
http://www.philly.com/inquirer/spor...ixers___The_time_to_deal_Iguodala_is_now.html Posted on Sun, Nov. 14, 2010 Inside the Sixers: The time to deal Iguodala is now By Kate Fagan Inquirer Staff Writer SAN ANTONIO, Texas - It's time. If you watched Andre Iguodala in person, you'd see a very talented player playing below his potential. Or if you walked into the locker room after a game and saw a guy hunched over after yet another loss, you'd be nearing the same conclusion: It's time. For proof, let's read between the lines. Doug Collins rarely goes a day without reiterating one simple fact: The 76ers' coach has been brought here to evaluate talent, to decide which players are prepared for the journey ahead. So let's forget the team's record, which is quite bad. Let's forget the roster's salary, which is quite high. Let's forget the remaining sliver of hope which keeps some believing that by season's end this squad - in its current incarnation - will be transformed into a playoff team. And let's state the truth without pump-faking or jab-stepping: The Sixers are reassembling, which is the NBA's version of rebuilding. You probably knew that. But there's a chance you didn't. You've likely read the multitude of quotes from Collins commenting on his search for the right mix of guys, for the secret recipe that will produce the gourmet meal. But when your ingredients are brown sugar and pickles, there is no gourmet meal. You might come up with a funky appetizer that a few people find interesting, but it'll never be satisfying. "I mean, I'm being ultra-positive. I don't know what else I can do," Collins said after Friday's loss to the Dallas Mavericks. "I'm ultra-positive: 'Let's go, let's do our jobs,' and stuff like that. But if we're going to judge ourselves after nine games, I mean, I would think that that wouldn't happen." Collins is smart enough and in tune with this challenge that he might get the Sixers to make a push, get them to 35 wins, but this season will not be a winning one. Which brings us back to the opening premise: It's time. Let's continue reading between the lines. Iguodala has not formally requested a trade, and the Sixers are not actively trying to deal him. There is no "For Sale" sign in front of Iguodala, but the Sixers would listen if you fell in love with the place and knocked on the door anyway. If you ask those around him, Iguodala "just wants to win." That's the answer to any number of questions: Might he ask for a trade by the all-star break? He just wants to win. But wouldn't it be nice, having a fresh start? We don't care about that, just winning. How happy is he in Philly? He just wants to win. Well, the Sixers aren't winning. If you walked into a vegetarian restaurant and made it clear only a steak would satisfy you, the easiest remedy would be to leave, not wait until they changed the menu. Right now, the Sixers aren't serving winning. But that's what Iguodala would like to order. The temperature on this situation is rising, but it's nowhere near the boiling point. So we could continue on like this for another few months, possibly into the off-season, but players tend to carry more value when they aren't pressing the phone into your palm and demanding that you find them a new home. There's been a lot of talk about how Iguodala's time with the U.S. national team might change his game, but there's been little talk of how it might have changed his mind-set. Iguodala spent the summer shooting at night with Kevin Durant, talking with Chauncey Billups, and watching Lamar Odom. Iguodala was one of that roster's oldest players, with six NBA seasons played. But only one of those six seasons was a winning one: his rookie year of 2004-05, when the Sixers, led by Allen Iverson, finished 43-39 and were eliminated in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Iguodala wants to win, his trade value is high, and the Sixers are reassembling. It's time.
Kevin Martin came from a crappier team and once led the league in scoring and was very efficient. Tracy McGrady was once with a crappy team in orlando and became the scoring champ. I can go on and on. The fact is, a player who averages 12ppg and can't shoot J's and FT's and pairing him up with an injury prone star center will never be the answer.
We are barely losing these games. Anyone who can get on this team, score more than Battier and not give up much on defense, will help this team.
Iggy is one player i can think of that will help the Rockets and strengthen one of their many weaknesses, but also the one player with the biggest contract of them all i can think of. If i was the Sixers GM i'm looking for draft picks/cap space/ and youth which the Rockets have. Rockets need 2-way players and Iggy fits right in with his ability to create for others with 4 scorers around him. He brings defense/playmaking and can run and bring the ball up. Good fit imo. Rockets need 2-way players and a closer/enforcer to defend the paint, because they give up to many easy baskets in the paint and their perimeter defense needs to be seriously tweaked because Martin and Brooks wont cut it.
This Iggy talk is all fine and good, but until Philly decides to put him on the market, their is no option here. I just got through combing through some Philly blogs and while they are 2-8, like the Rockets in some ways, they believe they are searching for identity. They are still not sure which are the pieces that dont fit. Their seems to be some opening for trading Iggy, but only when their is a consensus that he is the guy that needs to go. I dont think 10 games has been long enough for them to be clear about it.
Dude, the handwriting is on the wall with Philly and Iggy. It's only a matter of time and I suspect it will be by the trading deadline he is gone. It's not going to work. They owe it to Iggy to move him so he can compete for a championship.
The reality to all this trade talk, no matter who it is, is that nothing will happen until players that signed new contracts, ext. are elgible to be traded(in December). Until then we have to wait and see how teams start to fall in each conference to really get an idea of who is available.....If teams are doing decent or consider themselves contenders they are less likely to trade a valuable asset. So lets pray that the players, we as fans want , teams are stinking up the joint in December. If not we will have to wait till Feb. and by then it may be whole new different list of players on the rockets wish list......it is written.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...hould-the-philadelphia-76ers-expect-in-return Not sure if that was posted. I don't agree with the article that we would need to give up Martin (IMO that would be a bad trade for us).
No-no not for Martin just saying he'd be a nice fit is all. This team needs to get longer/athletic/bigger/quicker up-front, because they give up to many points in the paint do to the lack of size and mobility. If they had a line-up of something like Yao/Scola/Nene/Okafor they would be a very tough nosed defensive team. And our best three players Martin/Scola/Brooks can't play defense. 2-way players are rare which they need more of. Battier/Jeffries/Hayes our best defensive trio can not score. Something has to give here. Morey should be working the phones for players like Randolph, Ibaka, Okafor, Smith, Thompson long/lengthy players who can guard the paint and rim. Our Identity is missing we used to patroll the paint very good and force outside shot, but that is now missing do to the lack of size in the middle. Iggy on the other hand is a 2-way player which they need more of these kind of players.
