Iggy still does not solve the problem of having a lot of good players and no great player. We would just have a very nice collection of talent with no true #1 option
Point taken. I would only say how many true #1 options are out there? Wade, Lebron, Melo, Roy? They are not coming here or at least they expressed no such desire. The only thing management can do at this point in try to improve the team.
Really, who are "closers" in this league ? ...Kobe, Melo, Pierce, Roy, Wade, Durant, CP3, Billups, Lebron (maybe), Dirk (maybe), D-Will (maybe) Of those players, which player is available, "talked" about moving or suspected to be traded? ...Maybe CP3 or Melo Between CP3 or Melo, who has the desire to play in HOU? ...NEITHER...they both want to play together and on a big market team = NYC Who's left as options for the Rockets to acquire to improve and go to the next level? ...Iggy (maybe closer), Josh Smith (non-closer), T.Prince (non-closer), G.Wallace (non-closer), [Granger is a PIPE DREAM] I think if you are the Rockets and need to make a trade that makes this team better NOW & FOR THE FUTURE, you have to go after either/both IGGY & SMITH and believe that with the current collection of talent and scoring options you can be competitive enough to be respected on the court and attractive enough as an organization to entice quality free agents to sign in the future. A line up of: Brooks / Lowry / Ish Martin / Lee "Iggy" / Budinger "Josh Smith" / Scola / (Hayes or Hill) Yao / Dampier / Miller = Western Conf. Contenders ...and YES Josh Smith should start over Scola because like Landry used to do, it gives the second group a go to option. I actually think that Smith and Scola would end up playing alot together if this happened and would be more RECEPTIVE to coming off the bench.
Rox_fan_CT, I am in total agreement, if the so-called superstars are not coming here, we got to go after the next best thing: Iggy.
The 76ers are now 0 and 4, and Iggy has put it out there that he doesn't want to be on a bad team anymore. So, we need to get Iggy NOW!
A dumb thing is having 2 of the best players of the team in the very same position, it was seen when there were Scola and Landry for the very same spot that's why the Kmart-Landry trade was made... And that's why Iggy or any other SF or PG (brooks is still very tradeable player, I hope) is FAR a better fit...
*emails trade to Morey* Rockets send draft picks to both the Sixers and Atlanta, as well as the Ariza TE, and this trade is looking good for all teams involved. Only problem would be where would Josh Smith fit? Scola is the starting PF, Iggy would be the starting SF. Would Josh be cool as a sixth man?
Iggy's salary is $12 mil and smith is $11.7 we do not have a TE large enough for either one. Also, I am pretty sure they would not take those deals with only one pick each.
You are aware he was the first one of the Atlanta core to get paid right? Hence the $11m contract for the next 3 years.
You cant be serious thinking that trading Landry was not one of the poorest decisions this team has made.
Are you serious, that trade filled a gaping hole. It wasn't lopsided by any means, but it was necessary. A brooks package for Iggy would be fine by me.
Only problem is Philly wouldn't want Brooks with Jrue Holiday as their future PG and then Lou Williams.
I'm so sick of this YMCA crap azz coping mentality... 0 - 4 means you are NOT A GOOD TEAM. I've never heard of a "winless" team that earns championships or playoff bids. These types of commments are so dumb.
yeah and it doesnt look like they want to really move him, which i dont blame them...the guy is a stud...
