This was my exact reaction completely. Even if they got 3 1st rounders, why would you pay $20 mil for these guys you know aren't going to play. That's like buying 3 late 1st rounders for $7 mil each and that's if they got 3! This is up there with the idiotic Pau to Lakers trade years ago even though that one worked out well since they got Marc.

Yes, indeed. I am surprised that Utah didn't go after Bogut.
Bogut can be traded to another team, to make space for Howard.

All of this last minute stuff with the Warriors are seriously making the alarm bells ring.

Currently in: '**** JUST HIT THE FAN' mode.

LOL - Per AW, Golden State was already out of the running before they did the deal. Nobody told them that they had been eliminated.

Plus, now they don't even have a 1st round pick to offer LA in a S&T even if Howard were to change his mind.

    It's Houston, pretty much.

I posted this in the big Dwight thread but:

Let's look at the Golden State trade if they do not get Dwight:

Lose Biendris, Jefferson and Rush (although saving money).
Lose 2 1st round picks and multiple 2nd round picks.
    Unable to resign Jarrett Jack.
Pay Iguodola $12 million a year.
Iguodola takes away playing time from Barnes and Thompson.
When Barnes/Thompson's rookie contracts end, they're still paying Iguodola and might have to make choices (i.e. OKC trading Harden).

I think this is just a terrible deal for G.S. if Dwight is not coming over.

Minimum payroll for this season is around $53 million dollars. Utah has 8 players under contract for $26 millions, with Burke and Gobert they'll spend around $29 millions on 10 players. They need to have someone to eat cap space while they're tanking imo

Well, Biedrins and Jefferson are completely useless. I'm not sure whether it's a good long term deal but they sure aren't going to miss those guys.

Only thing I can see is GSW trading Bogut and Thompson for Dwight (and playing Iguodala at the 2). But that's highly unlikely/

Dwight Howard had a better free throw percentage than did Iggy last season.

In light of the fact that they didn't land Dwight Howard, GSW basically gave up 3 1st rounders for the right to sign Iggy. I'm really not sure that's wise. Especially since they could've signed someone similar next offseason(they'd have capspace) without giving away picks.

Seems to me the deal was in part linked to attracting Howard. And it failed.

Pretty sad consolation prize. Not an Iggy fan.
