If Drummond learns a post game he will be the next Shaq. If he stays like he is now he'll "only" be Dwight 2.0, which is scary enough in its own right
He will improve his freethrows once he gets his confidence up. Tim Duncan was an ok free throw shooter when he came into the league, he put in the work and became better. This guy should be able to, remember only 20.
most teams dont employ the hack - a - strategy until they are in the bonus anyway, that is why teams dont employ that strategy all game long they do it from the time they are in the penalty to the 2 min mark
24 pts, 19 rebs and 3 blocks today + 8/14 from the free throw line Pistons have a Superstar on their team
Isn't this the dude that's dating that icarly girl? lol. But man, this guys good. Talk about potential
Im gonna say he da best big man in da league at da moment. He jus on a whole nother level right now, and what scary is he only gonna get better
Check out his shot chart. Not sure if updated for tonight, but 174 of 178 shots within 8 feet of the basket. I don't watch a ton of them, but from what I see, it appears to be they type of stuff you'd like to see from Dwight more often... rolls to the rim, offensive rebound quick put backs, sneaking into the right spot at the right time.... COMBINED with a team that is really looking for him in those situations.. as opposed to looking for the next wing player to shoot a three (not that the Rockets aren't doing just fine offensively). So as noted, he's Dwight Howard like for sure in his game and play and increasingly results. Will he be able to develop post moves, or not? For the NBA's sake, I hope so. Then there's the Monroe questions. Is he the right fit next to Drummond? Now, or in the future? I honestly have no clue. You'd probably prefer a LITTLE bit more of a stretch, true 4, but Monroe is a pretty solid player, who can hit a jumper more than occasionally, and is probably a better fit than Drummond-Asik for example. The bigger question mark there is probably Josh Smith... but they just signed him... and to a contract that thus far probably overpays him a bit, imo. It was probably a little high when signed... but given Smith's underperformance thus far, it's clearly overpaying... so even if they wanted to move Smith so soon, could they? Anyway, it'll be fun to see Drummond continue to grow, and interesting to see if the Rockets could somehow end up with Monroe... though unlikely.
They hired Rasheed Wallace specifically to teach Drummond post moves and give him defensive tips. I predict a Greg Monroe for Kwahi Leonard+Danny Green type of trade coming up. They probably would like to move Smith to the 4. A frontcourt of Leonard, Smith and Drummond would be scary defensively tbh But I loved your analysis
I don't know. Leonard is overated, imo, and Green is a system player. Doesn't seem like a ton of value, though I see where you're going defensively for the Pistons... but that'd be a stretch offensively. Drummond, Smith, Leonard? That's giving Jennings the green light to be ineffective. Houston Rockets Out: Asik, Lin, Jones In: Monroe, Charlie Villanueva, Robin Lopez Detroit Pistons Out: Monroe, Villanueva In: Luol Deng, TJones Chicago Bulls Out: Luol Dent In: Jeremy Lin, CJ McCollum Portland Trailblazers Out: Robin Lopez, CJ McCollum In: Omer Asik Not perfect for all team. But works from salary cap perspective and interesting at least.
This. There never was another Shaq, and there isn't another one on the map right now. The guy average something like 22/14/4 as a rookie. It's unfair to compare anyone to him. That said, Drummond is certainly closer to Shaq than Dwight was/is from a physical standpoint. Him & Dwight have similar athleticism, but Drummond is longer with a much stronger lower body to anchor a post game. Dwight moved with more fluidity at the same age, while Drummond relies more on a straight explosiveness that tends to land him in foul trouble. Drummond had nearly as many fouls per game as a rookie, despite playing 12 fewer minutes per game(Though he also blocked nearly as many shots). Obviously, the biggest knock is his FT%. He makes Chuck Hayes look like Steve Nash. Last night 24pts, 19reb, 3blk, 2stl while going 8/14 from the line desperately needs to become a more frequent occurrence.
