If Thabeet was in the draft I'd take him. He's a post game away from being a top 3 pick.

This is a year I'd trade our pick, either for an established player like Miller, or for a better pic in next years draft, which should be better.

I'm hoping we don't have to give all the MLE to Landry, but we might have to compete for his services. It would be great if we got him with the LLE, so we could use the whole MLE for a FA that slips we'd value. Then hopefully, we can use expiring contracts in a trade for another rotation player, hopefully a PG.

But, I don't see much value for us where we are picking this year. Now if we could trade up for Westbrook, that would be a different matter.

Trade the pick with Battier for a starting PG or better more athletic swing or both.

I agree in fact I don't want us to have any more undersized players in any position . I remember the day when the rockets had three or four players over 7' on the team in a season :p

draftexpress is one of the better sites, yet it suggests Serge Ibaka. We need a centre(backup) badly yes, but I really don't think an 18 year old is the way to do it. I'd rather bring in Nathan Jawai.

I don't think we have the time to develop a 18 year old, so no to Serge.

I agree totally with this post. I really want us to trade our pick, as I don't think we would be getting much if any contribution from this years pick. So I'd want to combine the pick in a deal to get Artest or Miller, or a good PG.

By the way no undersized players pls!!! We've got more than enough already.

Sherlock, hooroo asked whether we can use the LLE this year. I think we didn't utilize it this season and since it's bi-annual as I'm sure you are aware,we can't use in the upcoming season. If this isn't correct, please let me know.

Aux contraire. I'm sure it's more than enough.

Big expiring + Hayes + 25th pick? They won't get a better offer.

We could throw in Head instead of Hayes I guess.

Keep in mind a player's value goes down when all GM's know a player WILL be traded for sure.

Robin Lopez would be a solid pick. We need a backup center who can defend the paint and rebound. He's a little stiff though and has very little offensive skills.

Chris Douglas Roberts would also be a good pick. Could be a good option off the bench. Might not have the same size and defensive skills as Brandon Rush, but he's a better offensive player. Can slash to the hoop and has a good mid range game and can actually create for himself, unlike Rush who has no handles. Could really help take pressure off McGrady and Yao. Reminds me a little of Rip Hamilton. I like his ability to move without the ball and hit the mid range shot. I think that's what we lack in our offense and would really take pressure off McGrady. With him moving around, it'd be harder to double McGrady unless they want to leave Rafer open for 3 or Yao and Scola open inside.

Roy Hibbert is meh. I think we need a guy who can really run up and down the court. He's a good physical presence inside, but he's a poor rebounder for his size and is suited for a half court offense. He's too much like Yao. We need a center who is kind of the opposite of Yao.

Brandon Rush...a bit of a polarizing prospect. He's a more athletic Shane Battier. Good defender, hits open 3's, and has some intangibles. He does a little bit of everything. However, he doesn't have the ball handling skills to consistently create offense for himself. He can disappear sometimes because of his lack of handles. With him and McGrady, it'll be alot of McGrady handling the rock and having to create and then dish off to an open Rush. We already have that with Battier. Rush can't be counted on to take over the offense either if McGrady is out of the game.

Mario Chalmers could fit this team. He's a good 3 point shooter and is a better pure point guard than Aaron Brooks. Isn't as big of a liability on defense either. Not sure we would really draft another point guard when we are severely lacking in size at all positions.

Ty Lawson probably doesnt fit our team. He needs a wide open offense and needs the ball in his hands to be effective. Not a dependable 3 point shooter and lacks a mid range game. Pretty much has to rely on driving to the hoop

I don't quite understand what you've seen that makes you think Rush doesn't have a handle. He's a much better facilitator/handle than Shane Battier and can put the ball on the floor just fine. Everything you read on draftexpress.com isn't necessarily accurate and if you have seen Kansas play this season, it should be obvious that he's got a handle when he's leading the fast break all the time.

CDR, we need players that can actually score when T-Mac's on the bench.

If Deke retires, Hibbert makes sense also.

i didnt even read draftexpress' profile on him...yet. i just dont see rush as a guy who can take over the offense. he's a good role player who can hit open jumpshots, but i never really see him create for himself except for maybe driving to the hoop. i just dont think he offers a whole lot to our team when we've got battier. did ya see the championship game? rush bobbled the ball multiple times. they might not have led to turnovers, but i really doubt his ballhandling skills, which will be even more evident at the next level.

i can see why people like him as a prospect. he's got very good size, he can defend, he's very athletic, and he can shoot the 3 very well. but i just dont see him helping our offense as much as CDR can. can rush dribble? yea he can dribble. but not well enough to really take pressure off TMac. it's apparent that TMac needs help on offense, and i believe CDR has another dimension to his game that will help our team more than Rush.

I agree with almost everything you said.

If we have to draft, i say we get a perimeter player or an undersized big. Recently it seems like the elite talent and any decent big are taken in the lottery. The only great players who slip are the undersized bigs (boozer types), the not-so atheletic wings (Redd), and the small PGs (Jameer Nelson). Of course, the parenthesis are for best case senarios but i don't think i've ever seen a good tall player come this low in the draft and i don't see us getting a superior athelete either.

Btw-I don't know why I've ever asked this before-are you a Kansas Jayhawks fan?

And about Rush, I agree that he's definitely a better ball handler than Shane, but relatively speaking for a wing player, he doesn't have the greatest handles-decent, but not good. But its definitely improvable so it shouldn't be a great concern.

CDR definitely has better ball handling skills and can finish strongly around the basket. He is also athletic and tall. I too feel that he would be a better choice than Rush but I don't expect him at 25. Rush may also be gone by then. I want your opinion on Rush vs Courtney Lee please.

saleem, the "Bi-annual Exception" (or LLE) has that name because it cannot be used in consecutive years, NOT because it can only be used every other year.

The Rockets haven't used the LLE since 2005-06 (Derek Anderson). The Rockets are free to use their LLE any year, except for the year immediately following the year they finally use the LLE.
