I've been saying all along if Hibbert is there and Deke retires we're nuts to not take him. He's about as NBA ready as they come. Not only that but a 21-year-old college senior? He's young, ready and the perfect guy to choose as Deke's successor.

I'd sooo much rather take and develop our own big guy than try the Maciej Lampe, Vin Baker, Jake Tsakalidis, Loren Woods approach of signing these crap big men that nobody else wants. Seriously, who's next...Chris Mihm? Diop? Kwame Brown? I plead insanity if this strategy makes sense to any of you.

That having been said, I just want to be very clear that I recognize all the other talent in this draft. While my preference is for a big guy, I can definitely live with taking a quality, NBA ready player like a CDR, Brandon Rush or somebody along those lines too.

If we can't get Rush or Lopez, I would love to package this year's 1st, a 1st in 2010, and bobby jackson for Mike Miller. I'm pretty sure Memphis would take, or at least consider two 1sts + an expiring contract for him.

Maybe in the same "he'll never get it" mold. Two different types of players though. Donte Green plays and kind of looks like Rashard Lewis.

Please, please, no more "glue" guys. Anybody who is long, athletic, and can shoot, a Kobe look alike would be a nice touch.

Way I see it, you've gotta look for the best big man available, ideally somebody who can hold it down at both the 5 and 4.

I have a feeling this will be Roy Hibbert. Not going to be much help at the 4, but the dude has a pretty high ceiling, a good roll of the dice at 25.

I'd think it would be wise to pick up the best young C we can get in the draft. The only other "needs" we have are a possible upgrade to the PG spot (won't get that in the draft) and a big guard (possible... but better to just see if we can sign Pietrus).

No I don't agree. He doesn't have a very high ceiling from all the scouting reports. I've seen him a couple of times already and I've made my mind that he is just the second coming of Zrudnas (sp?).

CDR, Chalmers, & Rush would all be interesting. The Rockets need scoring/shooting from the 1-2-3 positions. Basically the best 1-3 position player available.

I am less concerned about the big spots with Yao, Scola, Landry and Hayes. A 5th player (emergency/situational vet) can always be had for the min to LLE (Diop, Magloire, Ratliff, Elson, Skinner, Wright).

That said, you always go best player available/who you think will be in the NBA in 5 years. But if we use the pick I'd say guard or SF--most promising bigs are gone by then anyway.
