Ugh...don't even mention The Giant Crapheap to the near perfection that was the Texas Cyclone in the same sentence. Runaway Mountain was an okay ride.

My favorite ride at SFOT was probably The Titan. That thing had more Gs than a Family Guy scene with Quagmire in it...(giggity giggity giggity!!)

I've banned myself from wooden roller coasters ever since riding the Rattler at Fiesta Texas.

Went to Six Flags over Texas for the first time two weeks ago. My buddy told me Titan was better than the Superman Krypton coaster at Fiesta. Titan compressed my spine and probably took two inches off my height, but it was not nearly as fun as Superman. It was punishment, not fun. The Batman ride at Six Flags, which is like a miniature Superman at Fiesta, was their best ride. I gave no consideration at all to riding the Texas Giant. Who wants to be treated like a milk shake?

I hated pretty much most of the rides at Fiesta Texas ... maybe hate is a strong word but they were all kind of boring - very little thrill and that includes the Superman ride (it looks better than it rides). The only fun ride is the one that shoots you up the tower and drops down (I forgot the name)...

The rides at Six Flags over Texas are better than Fiesta TX in my opinion.

Don't forget about smashing your ears against sour smelling head protectors. That ride was pretty terrible, especially after waiting hours to ride it for the very first time.

Can anyone tell me what happened to the Taz's Texas Tornado? I remember riding it right when it opened and it was pretty sweet, but it was closed everytime I went after that and was eventually taken apart. I never knew what happened to it.

I loved the Batman ride at Astroworld. The trick was to lock the seat in place with your knees bent a little so that when you actually stood up, the seat wasn't jammed into your taint. It probably helps if you're skinny like me, too.

I've never ridden the Texas Giant but I'd like to. The Texas Cyclone was, of course, completely awesome. The one time I went to Fiesta, the Rattler was closed. :(

To whoever asked about Taz's Texas Tornado, the ride simply wasn't designed to withstand the Texas heat and humidity coupled with the large volume of riders. It broke down a lot and was removed. I was one of the few lucky enough to ride that sucker, and it was GREAT. But it sure gave you a pounding... most of the modern coasters do.

It was moved to SF Marine World in Cali, repainted and renamed "Zonga".

Alot of Astroworld's coasters will reopen at different parks. Ultra Twister is at SF America, Greezed Lightnin' is at Joyland in Lubbock, Batman is at SF Darien Lake, Mayan Mindbender is at Wonderland in Amarillo and Serial Thriller is at SF Great Escape.

The Cyclone, Viper, XLR8 and the Serpent all got destroyed. Taking down Cyclone was a crime; just a great coaster. It could have been moved, too. Just rode a great wooden coaster a couple of weeks ago in PA that had been moved from a park in San Antonio in the '80's. Great coaster with loads of airtime. If they moved that one, somebody could have moved the Cyclone.

I couldn't agree more. They built that ride up like it was going to be the greatest thing ever. It was a total disappointment.

Well, it WAS the first successful suspended coaster built by Arrow. The first, "The Bat", at King's Island had a lot of problems and only ran for 2 seasons. XLR8 was actually just an attempt to get a working model that didn't necessitate all the maintenance of "The Bat". If you remember, XLR8 pretty much lacked a drop which limited the stress on moving parts. The third Arrow suspended coaster was "Big Bad Wolf" at Busch Gardens Europe, arguably, the best example of the suspended coasters. Too bad they got the one with all the kinks worked out while we got the prototype.

I remember riding that Batman ride at Astroworld. I still have scars from when I was a knuckle head and didn't take my earrings out like the announcement said to. It wasn't a bad ride though I liked it and I haven't rode a coaster I didn't like. I even liked XLR8.

Wasn't the Batman Escape ride at Astroworld the one that made your nuts sore because of the way the harness was placed?
