Polling shows that progressive polices are more popular.

I just find rather icky when people do the "both sides" shtick comparing right wing fascists who to this day are saying Trump is the rightful president and believe in a white ethnostate to a group of people who want public health insurance and a stronger social safety net. Like really? You are going there? .
The moderates have gutted out manufacturing jobs and have created massive recessions from wall-street deregulation over the past half century.

The rise of extremism can be entirely blamed on the "moderates" that have exasperated wealth inequality, horded land and property, skyrocketing cost of living etc and allowing massive tech companies like Facebook to form.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but looking at our economic trends for the past half century, expect more extremism. Expect more riots. Expect more people banging on the doors of Manchin's Maserati. It's not something I desire. I'm just explaining what is, not what ought to happen.

other than your comment about extremism being due to moderates, i dont disagree with you and if i have to pick sides im with liberals, but ill see democrat politicians and strategists on cable news shows blaming moderates for losing elections. the trumpers do the same thing...when they lose they blame moderate republicans. instead of recognizing what they need to do to win elections they blame others for losing. it tells me that these people just dont get middle america. republicans have gone so far off the deep end into fascism and right-wing nationalism that all dems need to do to win is go centrist, but instead they are pushing too far left for suburban america. fair or not, thats the perception.

im doing the "both sides" shtick in regards to what i hear from the more progressive democrats who blame their parties losses on the party not being far left enough. democrats are losing the culture wars and need to recognize that. and unfortunately, thats what most people in this country care about. many political analysts have pointed out that the whole defund the police movement cost the democrats in 2020...republicans were able to capitalize on that and (unfairly) paint dems as anti-police. and i keep seeing more progressive dems in denial about this and saying the way to win in the future is to double down on their agenda.

there is a perception that dems are way too focused on racial identity politics and wokism - fair or not, its hurting them with suburban and middle america.

i see this "my way or the highway" attitude from the far left of the dems. they refuse to compromise and are holding up attempts to get things done. the trumpers do the same thing.

democrats suck at messaging and target marketing compared to republicans. republicans are shameless liars and hypocrites and are better at selling their lies and also better at telling others how bad the political opponents are.

transgender kids in school, defund the police, CRT - unfortunately these are the issues that get people to vote and its killing the dems.

Virginia's New AG Fires Civil Rights Division, Will Start Prosecuting Cases Dropped By 'Social Justice' DAs

Within hours of taking office, Virginia's newly sworn-in Attorney General Jason Miyares (R) cleaned house - firing dozens of lawyers, including those in the Civil Rights division - and announcing investigations into the Virginia Parole Board and Loudon County Public Schools.

When reached for comment, Miyares spokesperson Victoria LaCivita said: "During the campaign, it was made clear that now Attorney General-elect Miyares and Attorney General Herring have very different visions for the office," adding "We are restructuring the office, as every incoming AG has done in the past."

"One of the reasons Virginians get so fed up with government is the lack of transparency - and that’s a big issue here," he wrote. "The Virginia Parole Board broke the law when they let out murders, rapists, and cop killers early on their sentences without notifying the victims. Loudoun Country Public Schools covered up a sexual assault on school grounds for political gain, leading to an additional assault of a young girl."

Loudoun County became a focal point in Youngkin’s gubernatorial race against former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe following the arrest of a 14-year-old male high school student, who identifies as nonbinary, who has been found guilty of raping a female student in a school bathroom. That student was transferred to another school where he allegedly raped another student and the district has been accused of covering up the crime which resulted in one of the alleged victim's parents being arrested at a school board meeting. The offending student has been placed on the sex offenders registry for life as part of his sentence. -Fox News

Meanwhile, within hours of his inauguration, Governor Glenn Youngkin signed 11 executive actions - including lifting the mask mandate in Virginia schools, and "ending divisive concepts, including critical race theory, in public education."

Rupert Murdoch encouraged Virginia’s Glenn Youngkin to seek presidency

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-m...t-murdoch-glenn-youngkin-fox-news-presidency/

    excerpt:

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch has repeatedly encouraged Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) to run for president in 2024, according to two people familiar with entreaties made in at least two face-to-face meetings.

The previously unreported meetings took place months ago, but Murdoch’s ask has taken on fresh relevance as Youngkin continues to lay the groundwork for a potential last-minute White House bid and as Murdoch outlets hyped his presidential prospects this month with a mix of sober Wall Street Journal analysis and buzzy Page Six blurbs.

The New York Times reported in July, in a story on how Fox News coverage of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) turned tougher as his presidential campaign began struggling, that Murdoch had privately told people that he would like Youngkin to enter the race.

It was not publicly known until now that the New York billionaire, whose family owns a controlling stake in News Corp. and Fox Corp., had personally encouraged Youngkin to jump in, although the Virginia governor is thought to be waiting to see if his party prevails in the November state election before making a decision on whether to run.

The two men have spoken on at least two occasions in person about a possible Youngkin run, according to two people familiar with the ongoing discussion between them. The more recent of the twodiscussions took place in the spring and the timing of the first was unclear, according to a third person familiar with their interactions who, like the others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations.

A Fox spokesman said Murdoch was not available for an interview. Dave Rexrode, chairman of Youngkin’s Spirit of Virginia PAC, did not respond to questions about Murdoch but said the recent flurry of attention from his media empire stems from Youngkin’s success in Virginia. “Virginia’s getting attention because parents still matter and Governor Youngkin’s commonsense conservative leadership is working,” Rexrode said in a written statement to The Washington Post. “There’s more to do, so the governor’s not taking his eye off Virginia. These races are too important.”

It’s interesting looking back at this thread. Young Kim was supposed to be a sign of a Red Wave and that Biden’s presidency was politically doomed. Instead the Republicans can barely hold the House lost a seat in the Senate and have seen several state houses flip.

Instead of running Glenn Youngkinsnthey chose to run Herschel Walkers, Dr. Oz and Kari Lakes.
