I happen to be a Brian Hill admirer. Maybe it was his demanor or the way he carried himself. I have also always had pitty for him. I somewhat understand this move by Rich DeVos and the bottom line was money. He is battling money issues plus the new Arena issues and he was not willing to meet Saunders' lofty desires. EMuss was attractive but I believe he felt most comfortable especially in this dicey times going with a coach that he enjoyed success in Orlando before. The cast of players on the current Magic roster somewhat mirror the teams Hill had in the 1990s. Phil Jackson was a no go area in part because Phil was not goiing to go to Orlando - it is not ideal for his "legend". My only concern for Hill is Francis - he will have a had time getting Francis to tow the straight line to success. The soft approach has never really worked for Francis (albeit technically) and I believe BHill may have to ask that he be traded in favor for a player that will reflect his phislosophy.
"flirted with Flip Saunders..." Did they actually have a shot at Flip and if they did, why didn't they hire him???????
I don't think they did because if I were given the choice between Sanders and Hill, I would totally have pick Sanders.
Make no mistake, I hope a rejuvenated Hill turns things around in Orlando, kicks a little ass, and helps everyone forget the nasty way he was knocked out of ORL. It's just, holy crap, his offense was offensive.
Why does abyone care about this? The wicked hockey guy is Magic-NBA-dead, Stevie is discredited and TMc is reborn nationally.
In other news, Kurt Rambis returns to coach the Lakers and the Hornets fire Byron Scott and replace him with Allan Bristow.
