Hey, give Matt Barnes props for this afternoon's game. Kobe took 30 shots and scored 34. That's what you want against any "superstar". You can't really stop the guy, but containment is the key. Also, people will say that Matt Barnes was being immature out there, that's just good hardnose old school basketball. That's what made guys like Charles Oakley, Gary Payton, etc. good defenders. I think he may have gotten under Kobe's skin a little....maybe.

Barnes locked Kobe up, Kobe scored most of his points on Reddick and Pietrus when Barnes was out of the game. He did a great job

I think Barnes had a scuffle with Kobe back when he was with the Suns. Some people say he is a dirty player, kind of like Bruce Bowen. But I think Bowen is way more sneaky. Barnes is just physical and hot-headed.

For real, at least Barnes is straightforward. Bowen is cheap enough to grab some manberries on D so long as he gets away with it.

Whatever your feelings about Kobe, you have to admit that that was pretty badass of him. I would have flinched for sure.

And JVG is still an awesome commentator.

LMAO, it was not that bad ass. It's not like Barnes had a gun to his head. If you know the guy isn't going to actually throw it, you won't flinch. Barnes wasn't going to do anything.

Yeah? I always kinda liked Matt Barnes. With that guy you just need a good leadership base to contain his personality. But he will be looked at going forward as a guy who will contain the other teams top guy. I think he is up to it. He may just be playing for a new contract soon.....

And another miss. I wonder how many more threads we'd have around here if someone started a new one every time he missed a game-winning/tying shot.

but dude he hit 2 BIG shots to get them i that position. That three from the corner with Barnes? in his face was just another incredible kobe shot. then he comes back down and hits another step back shot which was half an inch from being a 3 which would have thrown the game into OT.

Me too. He's a tough guy in a way. He doesn't back down, competes,a good defender, and will push the line towards being dirty. He's in the james posey mode whcih is what i really like.

James Posey is a dirty player... You're implying Matt Barnes is dirty then. Any basketball fan that has watched Posey over his career knows Posey is a dirty player.
