Can I just demonstrate my ignorance, and say I've never heard of the Chancellor who won the poll?

Oh, and even I know that Hitler was (a) Austrian, (b) guaranteed to come up in this thread, and (c) likely to cause some sort of argument.

Well, who am I kidding, of course I read his last two posts, otherwise I would not have reacted like that. The thing with the ignore list in its current form is that out of curiosity, one still usually clicks on "to view this post, click here".

Anyway, after a few hours of sleep, I was ready to come back here and just say let's let it go, which is why I clicked on the thread again.

However, the last two posts are again yet another example that Smeg ONLY came to this thread to make inflammatory remarks. There is nothing of substance in it and their sole purpose is to instigate more arguing.

Spare us the pathetic "in the history of the BBS" crap. It is an argument that was unnecessary, that you instigated and that led to an unfortunate dispute between Manny and me in which Manny unfortunately lost his cool a bit. Ultimately, Smeg, you caused this.

Not necessary. Again, what have you contributed to this thread other than inflammatory remarks? And you keep doing it. What do you get out of it? Nobody knows.

No thanks, case closed from my side.

You should know better. There you have some Americans, indifferent, or inconsiderate about other peole (of other nations), inadequate in reading comprehensions (even getting confused with what best means), almost always vocal, even at irrelavent place (wondering out loud about Hitler in a best German thread), ect. So, no need to get up for those casual comments.

For the rest of the gangs, I said the above with tongue in the cheek. ;) (have to state that before flaming torrent comes in, although I shouldn't have to). So, don't hate me.

As to best German, my vote goes to Hegel.

Actually, the one causing the trouble was not an American, but an Australian - rather a coincidence, I would think, as it would in my opinion be nonsense to take that and generalize about Americans or Australians from this single incident.

It's just cute that this particular Australian does not even try to address this issue - that he brought up Hitler as a potential "best" German and that even after he is given a patient explanation of why this does not make sense, he stubbornly refuses to even try to comprehend. Some people cannot admit mistakes, but that's ok, I'm over my initial excitement about this. If that was what he intended (to stir something up), then he succeeded. Who cares...

Is "the best" equal to "famous" in English? I totally missed that part in my education.

It means to be "other peole (of other nations)'s feelings".

SJC i didn't bring him up as a potential best ever just want to garner some information on current fascism levels in germany, by way of seeing if he got any votes all, that was all i was asking in my small original question, you then went off telling me it was unnecessary and stupid

btw i was already to stop laughing at your complete overreaction and ease at which you snap till i read the downunder trampled comment....

i was a question dude that is ucking all, there was nothing for me to comprehend, you could have just politely said given you explanation without the unneccessary and stupid, all it was was a query.

It WAS unnecessary and stupid, and if it hurt your feelings to hear that, so be it.

I gave you the information on "current fascism levels in Germany", but that had nothing to do with this thread at all, and that is why, in this context, in this thread, in this forum, your question and its implications were unnecessary and stupid, and it amazes me that you still fail to comprehend this and finally apologize for your behavior.

Just because one or two of your buddies try to help you out here or at least try to do some damage control for you does not mean you need to ride yourself deeper into the hole that you dug for yourself.

Now I would be thankful if someone could put this thread out of its misery. There was no harm intended in starting it and I apologize to Clutch for littering the regular Hangout with this crappy pissing match. Trader_Jorge is right, we could have at least tried to live up to TJ/Sam Fisher levels of putting each other down, but even that we did not manage ;).

Just as this thread began to lower itself into the depths it has reached, Another Brother, who asked about your Munich info, was beginning his own thread about thread rules. I suggested to AB that no one mentioned your trip because you didn't follow the rules.
