Patterson by season's end is my hope to take the bulk of the minutes at backup big. That means PF, C, whatever he can get.

Patterson and Hill are gonna be competing for quite a few more years together.

Clutchfans love to play with their new toys. Sad that a proven player like Chuck gets thrown under the bus by so called "Houston fans"... Chuck will take all the minutes as the 3rd/4th big off the bench with Brad Miller...

It'll depend on who we are playing and different matchups!

Sometimes hill, sometimes chuck, sometimes pat!
That's the beauty of having a deep bench!!

My hope is that most of the minutes goes to Jordan Hill at the begging of the season, until his able to prove he can play center. But once his able to prove I hope Pat can the rest of the minutes at PF...

So hopefully by season's end and the playoffs, we can have a back-up front court of 6'9 Pat(PF) and 6'10 Hill(C)...

Personally, I happen to think Patterson is a better player than Hill at the moment so I'm inclined to move him ahead of Hill on my depth chart.

It's amazing that so many people seem to be sleeping on Chuck, but he absolutely deserves and will earn his share of minutes moving forward. My gut tells me initially he'll be one of the first bigs off the bench until Hill and Patterson can get their feet wet. Once those two (or just one) get comfortable, I have a feeling we'll see Chuck's minutes decrease.

Also, it sounds robotic to point this out but....matchups, matchups, matchups. There's no such thing as a permanent, set-in-stone NBA rotation. There will be certain teams we face (mainly uptempo squads) where having Chuck out there playing heavy minutes won't be beneficial for us. In that case, you have to adjust and reallocate your minutes accordingly.

It might not matter. Scola might just play every minute of every game this season.

    6-8, 6-9 is undersized.

Chuck Hayes is 6-6 and he played Center last year. There were just no other viable options, and the Rockets' interior defense was sliced to pieces because of it.

I think Chuck deserves the minutes.

Chuck most certainly deserves the minutes the most. He's been very good to us, and we've been good to him picking up his option. Chuck has served us very well, but as much as I'd like to be loyal, I think I'd rather play Hill, or Pat over him.

Agree with the OP. After Daryl's post trade interview on 610 i think it's the common consensus within the teams front office to play Chuck as the backup PF. Heck, at least he won't be out of position. Ultimately it's Ricks choice.

Chuck will be there in situations like stopping Paul Pierce from hitting the last shot of the game.

Chuck Hayes. I'm interested to see what Patterson will be able to do, though. If Patterson and Hill can earn some minutes at the PF/C positions, even better because it would mean they are developing and making progress. But Chuck is clearly ahead of them as of right now.

I love Chuck but we need to see Hill and PP develop. Thier ceilings are much higher and both can be pivotal long term pieces.

Hayes, on the other hand, is a stop gap when something goes wrong. He plays out of his mind, but he is so limited by size and offense, he can't be relied upon for the long term.
