They better make sure he signs the contract before they let him watch that stuff.

Almu, thanks for posting this for us.

I like how they called Les Alexander "eccentric".

Another thing that the hosts mentioned that has been a HUGE problem for the past few years is attendance. I'm sure we can expect larger crowds next season with the new arena, but I am concerned whether they will be consistently large crowds.

Hmm, JVG said he has "no doubt" that Ewing would be a good coach and that he will contact the Wizards about speaking to him. This will definitely be an interesting season if Ewing is in the coaching fold.

Good stuff. Everyone should listen to it.

Van Gundy basically said he knew nothing about this team before he agreed to coach the Rockets. This is so funny. :D

First of all, Van Gundy did a call in show for about 20 minutes every Friday when he coached the Knicks. I kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinda didn't like it because he was a little too nerdy for me. I like basketball. But I am not THAT into it. Many people said the same when they called after he got off the air. Too nerdy. Need to be more basic. Not everyone is all into all that terminology. Do you notice how often he mentions 1994? He must of gotten really hurt by another big man.

Second, the host that suggested the "assignment" to Van Gundy is:

    A) A VERY obnoxious and pompous Yankee fan who thinks he knows everything

    B) Is Bill Parcells best friend. And Jim Nantz best friend. And Bobby Knights best friend. And so the arrogance is just something that we have to all take because he gets good scoops and the producers know it. Alot of people in NYC don't like him.

The other guy is much more humble and down to earth. He is solo on Saturday and gets much more accolades because of his repetoire with the callers.

    A couple of smaller notes.

Forgive the New Yahkers for their accent. They make fun of my Houston accent all the time.

Finally, people here don't respect any team outside of NYC. NYC is the center of the universe to them. True to some extent. But not to the point where they are totally disrespecting the NJ Nets (who are in the finals again)and the NJ Devils (who won a championship). To them, its Yankees, Knicks, Mets, Rangers, Jets, Giants.

Anything less is just uncivilized. What do you expect from NYC'ers?

Excellent post Timing. He might decide to go back to sitting with Fratello and Marv. I think I'd shoot myself if I watched all 82 of the Rockets games this year. Van Gundy is a workhorse.

I lived in NYC for 4 years. You think there's a lot of concrete here? NYC has its advantages and its disadvantages. IMHO, they are basically the opposite of Houston's. So the things that bug you about either place will seem great in the other by comparison.

And yes, I know he didn't live in the City. But I think the outlying areas here are prettier than Westchester, Connecticut and Norther New Jersey.
