I must say, this was definitely the matchup I wanted to see. If Malone is out, our mediocre frontcourt won't be so overmatched. And the Shaq-Yao matchup is going to be a joy to watch.

I don't see a big chance for the upset, perhaps 10%. But if the regular season is any indication, it's going to be entertaining.

Can't wait for the playoffs to come. God it's been so long since playoff basketball in Houston.

    Wow.

Kobe made two of the biggest clutch shots that I've ever seen.

The dude maybe guilty, but he's good.

    REPEAT:

    The LA FAKERS!!!

It was confusing who we would play, but after 2 OT's we are going to play the Fakers. They nearly choked against the crappy blazzers.

I am so happy we are finally in the playoffs. AND we match up well against the Fakers. The Rockets and the Lakers play similar style. They both have slow BIG centers, that slow down the transition D and offense, so they set up as more of a half court team.

We have faired well against them this season. Yao has had a couple of huge games against Shaq, and SF has shown up strong too.

It appears the Lakers bring out the best in our players. I am really going to enjoy this series.

Looks like it is time for the NBA executives to sh** themselves over the YAO vs SHAQ playoffs!!!!

that was just what the Lakers radio guys said.. apparently i think ABC was gambling on Lakers sliding to 3/4 spot so they gave espn the #2 v #7 match-up

but yeah you would expect the Lakers to play on ABC

Um... reality check. The Lakers are playing better than Sacramento right now. Sure it looks like we match up better to them and have a better regular season record... but I'm pretty sure they'll have a sense of urgency like never before.

Anyway... we don't have to win... just make a statement about where the franchise is going --> up.

Greg Anthony just made the Rockets his sleeper in the West. Said he wouldn't have said that before, but with the Lakers matchup he thinks we're a team to watch.

Unexpectedly ,Shark will suddenly be the blot witness to attend the trial. And at last,he will confess he committed the crime together with Kobe.
They will both miss the game.
And Payton will be too disappointed about it that he declines to play the games.

    BTW ,Malone is injured.:D :D :D

You can bet that they will put the Rockets vs. Lakers game on ABC on sunday, this will be one of the most hype, anticipate, fun playoff game in a long time.

But they better finish the game before 4 p.m(western time), but I highly doubt that they will play this early.

Thanks for noticing, Eric. I hate to toot my own horn, but this is the only prediction I have made all year. Over a month ago I predicted a Lakers matchup. I've been standing by that call ever since.

Damn. I'm in a good mood. Talk about an epic series chalk full of terrific story arcs:

Last time the Rockets were in the playoffs they lost to the Lakers. Somehow this feels right.
Phil Jackson vs. Van Gundy Two coaches with very different styles. (yes, we'll see some sniping at some point in the series)
    Francis / Payton
    Kobe / Cat
    Scrubs / Malone
    Rockets Youth vs. Lakers Experience
on a similar note . . . The NBA's Present vs. the NBA's Future (even if this isn't precisely true, you can bet that the NBA will bill it as such)
And of course the main entre, the sizzling 18 ounce rib-eye . . . Shaq vs. Yao. Enough said.

Do I think the Rockets will win? No. But they weren't going to win any first round series. (And of course I hope I'm wrong. I'd love to look back on this post a month from now and laugh at my lack of faith). If we're going down, I want to go down in a prime-time blaze of glory. Plus, if the Rockets are using this season to get playoff experience, why not get it against the NBA's gold standard? (Sorry, Spurs).

Isiah's Pistons had to lose to the Celtics.
The Bulls had to lose to the Pistons
. . . and before winning our third trophy, the Rockets will walk through the fire and lose to the Lakers.

And off the heat of my one successful prediction, I'm going to make a second: this series will go six games. I feel it.

    Thank you Kobe!
    GO ROX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
