This guy makes a good point. We're all Rockets fans but IMO there are two factions of fans on this site. 1. Rockets fans, who cheer equally for everyone and just want the team to win. They will praise whoever needs to be praised and bash likewise. 2. Yao fans, people who are likely Asian and were not Rockets fans prior to Yao's acquisition. They defend him to no end and are more interested in his success than the team's. I've taken a lot of flack for bashing group 2 and been labeled a racist for it. IMO, it's undeniable that the majority of Yao only fans are Asian. And there's nothing wrong with that. And pointing that out doesn't make me racist. I just don't feel that Group 2 is always looking out for the team's best interests and consider them inferior fans. Now, don't get me wrong, the more people cheering for the Rockets the better, but not all fans are created equal. If Yao has a pathetic game(like tonight), I feel that I have the liberty to criticize him for it in any way that I want. Just as I would equally praise him for excellent performance. But I don't feel that I need to get hammered by Yao's angry legion of jock chasers for pointing out that he got owned by Carlos Boozer. Because anyone that watched the game knows that's a fact. Any common observer can see how Yao has changed the Rockets' fanbase, just by looking at the current demographics of TC compared to The Summit a decade ago. And I'd like to think that all of those people are fans of the team and not just the tall guy, but that would be foolish. A LOT of current Rocket fans are Yao only fans. Millions. And honestly, I hate every one of them. Not because they are Asian but because I don't feel that we cheer for the same thing. And I think that a lot of people on these boards and pre-Yao Rocket fans feel the same way, alas more tight-lipped about it. I know that this will undoubtedly be followed by a string of troll or racist or idiot posts directed towards me but honestly, I don't care. I just want the Rockets to win game 6. Oh, and Yao to look alive on defense.
I am not usually one to ring my own bell but I am a bit proud that even though I was frustrated I hung in their and defened our boyz. By the way evetually if you keep hating on the ROX every time something goes a little wrong I really think you should be band from this great Forum.

Things are never as bad as they seem, unless and until the Rox lose the series, and never as good as they are, unless and until the Rox win it all. Lets take each win and each loss with equanimity. Just like regular people in any walk of life, fans react differently to different situations. Only an immature idiot believes that there is one overarching definiton of what it is to be a "true" fan. And only a child would create a thread as pointless and attention whoring as this one.

I've been a Rockets fan since Mike Newlin, Calvin Murphy and Rudy T came to my school. I rooted for them when they tanked to get Ralph Sampson, when they started Buck Johnson and through all the frustrations of the Francis-Mobley era. In all my years as a fan I've never seen such a bunch of whining losers as have been vomiting on this BBS over the last few days. Astrorocket: Lecturing people about maturity is really not what you should be doing right now. You acted like a toddler who needed her diaper changed in much of the game 4 thread.
Didn't take Many of you guys to eat your words! What a difference a game makes. 1 win and look at how most of you change and eat your words. All of a sudden everyone wants to be apart of our run again.. after 1 game! Geeze guys gotta show some loyalty here. I havn't seen anyone say "i really couldnt care less about the rockets anymore, they lack heart and determination" or " Our bench sucks, Luther is shi*t and juwan is to old." Wow our bench got good in one game... Amazing!! It really pisses me off the way some of you act after a couple of losses. And i totally understand that it isnt everyone, maybe not even majority. But there are definantly people who who love to bag us and put us down and give up when we lose, and then, are our biggest fans when we win. THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT FANS... THEY'RE BANDWAGON SUPPORTERSSSS So bandwagon fans.. Does TMAC still lack heart? does he talk the talk and not walk the walk? should we trade him? is he still ****? Is Yao still soft?
