My favorite line came from Fontana...something about his "testes". Anyone remember the exact wording? I knew I'd forget it once I left the theatre. My thoughts on the movie: a lot of funny parts that weren't put together properly. Like Dodgeball, there are some classic lines. But Dodgeball at least had a plot. Still, I'm glad I got to finally see it.
aha that makes sense... because there were a lot of scenes in the trailer not in the movie --"you took a bullet for me"? --ron burgundy hitchhiking --"let's make a baby!" --ron burgundy walks into a file cabinet seriously 20% of the trailer wasn't in the movie.
Just saw it! Steve Carell totally made the movie for me, almost every thing he did had me laughing! And of course that was in addition to Ferrell's over-the-top brilliance. I thought it was great, would love to see what else they would have to put on the DVD.
I was a little disappointed at how scattered it was, but the end where the dog talks to the bear had me tearing up it was so funny.
I thought the movie sucked pretty bad, but there were a couple of funny moments. I stress "moments." The best by far was Jack Black kicking the dog off the bridge. "Yeah, that's how I roll." That was really hilarious. The gang fight wasn't bad, but I wasn't cracking up or anything. The dog talking to the bear was semi-decent. The rest of t he movie was just boring and predictable. I would have preferred a couple more gags that couldn't be seen from a mile away, like the Jack Black part.
yeah, the cameos were great, and the publicity did a good job of keeping the cameos a secret. (SPOILERS) the West Side Storylike showdown with Stiller, Luke Wilson, and Vince Vaughn was brilliant, and any movie when Jack Black says "Brosef" is an instant classic in my book
Was the other (tall w/ fro) one Tim Robbins? That's what I heard afterwards but I can't remember now what exactly he looked like.
spoiler below And how about the Smokey and the Bandit outtake during the closing credits? Very clever.
THAT WAS GREAT! Unfortunately, I saw it with a bunch of high schoolers (ugh, I thought the 10:30 showing would be too late for them) so I heard a lot of "Who's that?" and "Why are they showing that?".
My brother and I have been quoting that movie since Friday, non-stop. If certain members of my family hear us say "I ate a big red candle" one more time, we may not make it until the DVD release.
