LOL it would at least be better to put Landry at SF and Ron at SG..... but to make that suggestion I'd have to assume that idea is remotely possible in the first place...
But for the last few years, that is the rockets defense. Try to force players other than the stars/go-to players to make shots and beat you. Sometimes, we make the role players take shots or be in positions they are not used to, but not always, as what happened with the Jazz on many occasions. Also, the Jazz are very deep, with many role players who can contribute which make that strategy much harder, but with a team that is much thinner, it generally works. This is why many games, some scrub for the other often goes off for like 15-25 pts and then we get all annoyed that our team couldn't contain that player.
sometimes the teams just don't start their best guy on some position in order to save him as the sixth man, like Manu Ginobili. Kover is the sixth man of j*zz I think.
Jeez... I'd start 5 Scola's - how some of you leave him out of the line-up is just plain silly. Seriously; Yao, Scola, Landry, Arest & Lowry should probably be our starting five - should we face Utah. We should definately play Deke more (but he shouldn't start - let him come in when Yao is resting), but Lowry can guard Williams better than Brooks and should have more minutes.
still remember RA used Yao, Scola and Landry together on the floor vs. Lakers in Jan and it was effective. I think RA won't use it any more until playoffs.
I think the lakers were playing Bynum, Pau and Odom on their frontcourt with us playing yao and scolandry. Odom is actually more of a PF than a SF so Landry was able to match up with him at defensive end, though landry was wasted as a SF at the other end. RA used that weird squad to put Landry on Odom as shane and Ron both had worked their guts off on Kobe, it's a very radical option which can only be used in special situations where we don't have any other choice. Landry's body height is perfectly fit for a SF but he has to be restricted at spot 4 due to his slowness. Odom used to play SF very often when he was still young several seasons ago, but this guy has already fallen into a similar condition as landry's. Otherwise Phil wouldn't have played him off the bench before bynum got injuried, I mean he would have played him as starting SF if he could.
