Starting Deke at the four and/or playing him extended minutes is not gonna happen. Although, after watching Phoenix stymie and fluster Utah with a zone last night I am definitely open to that idea.
Your absolutely right!!!! They sure wouldn't expect that lineup but we are talking about the playoffs man. The playoffs. Not a regular season game but the playoffs. The playoffs where EVERY POSSESSION COUNT!!!!!. ( sorry i tried to be like Iverson and his practice speech ) Honestly this line-up wouldn't be a good idea. The Rockets are trying to fight to get out the 1st round and win a championship. The Rockets had a hard time with guarding Boozer and Ohkur with just Yao and Scola. Your taking Scola out and adding Mutombo which would make the matchups even worst with two 7 footers who are slow. Ohkur and Boozer would just blow right by them. I understand your saying play zone but playing a 3-2 zone with 3 big men is unheard of. Now Deron Williams is no scrub for a point guard. He would easily break that zone apart and would force us to play man which would look like hell.
you don't guard Boozer or Okur. You need to attack them. Don't guard Deron Williams. You need him to play defense on you. The only way to beat Utah is to have a great offense.
"Stopped" the Jazz? Did you notice the part where Utah scored 114? Phoenix only beat Utah because they out-scored them, not because of their defense.
yes i dont' even think deke should be in the game at all except to be motivational with a couple of blocks then pull him out... Solution to play against jazz is make yao play boozer tighter or make sure Yao is more dominant offensively to counter boozers open shots. I think man to man for rockets is a plan for failure....we have to roll 2-3 zone against them since yao will get exposed too much offensively guarding boozer or b.) get pulled outta the paint guarding okur
Well then maybe someone should hit Daren Williams hard. What I mean is someone give him a hard fair foul. Shake him up
The floor is already spread. Yao plays closer to Boozer and he is going to blow right by him. Yao can not guard Boozer and that's just it.
Thats obvious...all shooting bigs get open shots against yao at the elbows ...like i said 2-3 zone is probably that only way we dont' get exposed at that spot but in other games we've done that well everyone one else worked their butts off chasing and recovering it was effective thogh
2-3 zone in the NBA is usually unheard of because of the fact that depending on what team you play guys can make their open shots. The Jazz big men can make shots. Open shots. By us playing zone it hurts on the defensive rebounding because in zone you can't really box your guy out. Just like Luther Head the Jazz are a bad team for us to match-up against.
Then Aaron Brooks would get torched on the defensive end while guarding Kirelinko or Brewer. All they would have to do is post him up and you know Utah never gets calls against them.
Adelman did use them both at the same time in one game last season. Can't remember which one, but it was towards the end of the season and it was at home. From what I remember, it kinda worked.
It would be good enough just to see Mutombo get some minutes. Hell with it I wanna see James White go against Corey Brewer now that I would love to see.
Corey Brewer sucks. Unfortunately for us, the Jazz have Ronnie Brewer. A player that's quickly rising up on my "MOST HATED PLAYERS" list.
Almost all agreed that Yao can not guard Boozer neither can Deke. So the lineup would not work. When we play in Utah, how about trying this: Chuck Battier Artest Landry Brooks Let Yao play 2nd and 4th Q. Keep in mind big guy like Yao can not breath in Utah.
