I haven't looked up the statistics yet, but I can't recall any member of the Rockets scoring more than 40 points in a game this year. Anyone recall otherwise, or able to look it up? Secondly, it may be a bit premature, but since the team is on trajectory to make it to the playoffs, has it ever occurred that a team has made the playoffs without having a single 40-point performance from any of its players during the course of the season? Just some interesting trivia ...
I would put AB down for a 40 point game sometime this year, when he gets hot there's no stopping him.
we're not that kind of team. we share the rock and play some serious D. the blocks tonight by Landry and Trevor might have just won the game for us. we don't need a 30 ppg scorer when you have 4-5 guys a night in double digits. we've seen Mac and Yao go for 30-40 points per, but we lose. teams that win usually have different guys that can step up on any given night a la boston, lakers. allen, pierce, KG, rondo, wallace all can step up, kobe, gasol, bynum, odom all can step up. we have that but not to their extent.
Look no further than the history of our very own rockets... from one year ago. http://clutchfans.net/game_highs.cfm?Season=2009&team=rockets&orderby=TotalPoints Season high was 33 by Yao, though Brooks had 34 in the play-offs.
We didn't have a 40 point performance last year and we made the playoffs. Yao had the season high of 33. AB scored 34 in the playoffs against the Lakers. Our last 40 point performance came from TMAC on March 8, 2008 when he scored 41 against the Hornets.

LOL, so much for that. Good find, right here on the front page of clutchfans. I also think the AB would be the most likely candidate for a 40 pt performance, although watching Ariza get hot against OKC - he can definitely do it as well. Just gotta hit the free throws ... Anyway, I actually think it's pretty cool that our scoring is so balanced. I love having offensive production coming from everywhere, and the recent average of 26 assists per game is just awesome to watch...
Eh, what does it matter if we don't have one player score 40? We usually have around two score 20 points a game and our defense is good enough to keep most teams from having anymore then one superstar level player go nuts on us. And considering the fact that there really are only a few true superstars in the league, we have a serious advantage.
when you have 4-6 players that scores more than 10 pts. you dont need a 40 pts from one guy. Nobody take too many shots. The scoring is well balanced.
I think Brooks will get 40 sometime this year. If I had to guess I'd say against the Raptors or Suns, both have point guard who can't defend and little to no interior presence. If he got on a roll against either of those teams they'd have a very tough time stopping him from getting 35-40.
