I struggle to see a scenario where the Rockets bring in a coach who doesn't subscribe to the stats based approach to roster, lineups, etc. However, it can't be stated enough that guys like Phil & Pops undoubtedly give their team an advantage in tight games - especially in the playoffs(and that's coming from someone who used to think Phil was successful because he had the best player in basketball on his roster).

...still Phil is a bit of an interesting character and if anyone were to suddenly embrace an entirely new concept to basketball strategy at such a late age, it would be Phil with the added bonus of sticking it to the new Lakers regime who has disrespected him since Buss Sr left control to his son.

It's highly unlikely that we could get Phil, but it speaks volumes when a guy of his stature speaks positively of this team's chances.

It all depends on how we do playoff time, Phil, Karl and svg are ready and more than willing to coach this team up. I think this is a make or break season for mchale.

Don't see it. His wife is a Laker. PJax is a Laker. What they're trying to figure out how to do is to wrest control of basketball operations from her brother. Don't see Phil leaving that scene.

As for Calipari, yes, he wants control. However, he may be convinced to take a little less control if Lebron comes with him. Again, this is a long shot that I don't think happens but I think Calipari moving to the Rox along with Lebron is more realistic than PJax ever coming to Houston. Unless Phil gets a divorce.

Phil obviously hasn't watched a game. If he did, he'd no that the Rockets haven't used Asik and Dwight together at all for how long? Since after week 1 or something

If they are going to use Dwight and Asik in the playoffs, they better hurry up and develop some real-time chemistry on court, something I'd say is too late to do already.

And they still think you're crazy because nobody around here wants to just have fun and talk hypotheticals (even though a couple weeks ago we spent a couple days straight talking Rondo to Houston). Let's "be real" and go back to arguing about the merits of Bev vs. Lin. Sad. Really.

Adelman/JVG worked fine with Morey. Pretty sure Rudy T's son was involved with the Lakers' analytics at one point, so I'm sure Phil Jackson is already familiar with it. And you mentioned Popovich who is as involved with that part of the game as any coach. Ultimately, I also think you're slightly overstating its importance when it comes to influencing the entire coaching philosophy.

Since I don't foresee a coaching change anywhere in the near future, the only thing I'll take away from this thread is the guy with 13 NBA Championships under his belt endorses the Twin Towers philosophy.

    Good enough for me.

Phil will NOT coach for the Rockets, but could be hired with some more formal role with the team in the future.

Phil wanted a share of the Lakers to come back and coach. What make some of you think Les is going to give Phil a piece of the Rockets?

Tmac's high chair is probably still in storage somewhere.
