Statiscally, Lin is really effective in PnR situation (Synergy tells us so), just as good as Harden.
I know he has to improve a lot to run the contending team next year, but why are you so down on him?
And the weirdest thing is, why do you think J-Smoove would be a good addition despite the fact that he's a terrible shooter anywhere on the court exept at rim?

the thing that makes Lin incompatible with Howard is that he is a poor ball handler and that makes it very difficult to make entry passes into the post. he needs to be able to allude the defender to get a good angle first. i think most teams use their point guard to feed the post because of that. it's harder for shorter point guards. i'm not sure Harden or Parsons will be that much better at it either. Howard tries to pin the defender deep for a point blank layup or dunk so the pass needs to be delivered at exactly the right time. that could be a regular problem, the post player is open and the Rockets miss the pass. a lot of times if you remember d-mo would be open with good position, but not receive the pass.

Hmmm, that's what I really think where Josh is overrated. Yes he does block shots, and has great upperbody to match up opponents' PFs in the low post, he is one of the worst goal-tending prone as well.
His passing ability would shine a lot in our current offensive system, but if it takes both Asik and Lin to get him, it'd be a bad move.

Simply he isn't worth what it takes to bring him in.
We should better keep both Asik and Lin unless PDX agrees to send LMA for them.

Lin is a good PnR player but his handles are shaky.

Shaky that it affects passing to the post? Guess who made the most passes to the post last season? this is with a front court of Greg smith, Asik, and Dmo...

Post entry passing has little to do with handles.

Shane Battier was a very good post-entry passer for the Rockets back in the Yao Ming days (and a good passer in general, he often handles the inbound passes for Miami when he is on the court) and he has basically zero handles.

Hmm, every Rocket was a good post entry passer in the Yao Ming days...

I didn't say anything about his passing. Its universally accepted that Lin is a good PnR player and passer, but his handles are shaky and at best slightly below average. I would argue his handles stop him from fully utilizing his athleticism.

But what I was saying absurd was his statement that handles affects entry passing...

You did not specify which part of the statement was absurd, so I just chimed in. I disagree with his statement if that's what you are worrried about.

Very interesting that you only saw the words "Lin" "Poor Handles" in the whole quote and ignored the rest of the statement...

I specifically stated multiple times Lin is a good PnR player and passer. And that I disagreed with his statement.

I solemnly apologize for offending your prophet, and will never dare criticize him ever again. I have made offerings to the Jeremy Lin shrine and donated to the Jeremy Lin foundation. If needed, I can also donate a "how to grow thicker skin for dummies" to the foundation.

maybe he didn't specify because common sense dictates the whole thing was absurd.......that's like someone saying "Battlefield Earth is absurd and terrible" and you come back with "you never specified which part of the move was terrible!"

Houston may move Lin, but Beverly is not a starter.
