Frightening in your make believe world where Bush is super-awesome and Obama is the devil, yes.

Whew...that ought to do it. I was so worried there for a few minutes.

A few snappy quotes by Obama and all is fixed. I guess we should stop listening for chatter now.

Reading is fundamental. Try it, and if you still don't understand don't be afraid to ask questions.

I agree...I just read a Pakistan paper which spoke very highly stating "Obama reaches out to the Muslim world”. They had nothing but praise for him; The read was a good look for the new administration in my eyes.

Are you actually trying to assert "From Obama's lips to Bush's pen?"

Don't you think that all kind of scenarios are planned and discussed? Have you seen "24?" ;)

With Bush, I don't think all kinds of scenarios were really discussed. There is no doubt it was from Obama's lips to Bush's pen.

Bush had 7 years to do something about Afghanistan. Obama was talking about it before he ran for President, and once he brought it out in public more, then and only then did Bush make any real moves to get serious about Afghanistan.

Bush wouldn't even mention timetable regarding Iraq. Obama mentioned it, and the Iraqi govt. even agreed with Obama. Finally Bush put what Obama was talking about into action.

At the moment I think the Obama Admin is saying the right things. They are simultaneously reaching out to the Muslim World while also making sure to placate Israel and its supporters. This is obviously a delicate act and one thing we should all know about Obama now is that he is cautious.

As other posters have noted though we will have to judge by actions to see if any of this rhetoric matters. Obama has made some moves that show that he is willing to look for a new relationship with the Muslim World and some that he isn't but I think its too early to say anything definitive about which direction this Admin. will go.

True it is just a very bizarre move.

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. --- George Washington

I don't really believe that either. You didn't hear about those things coming down the pike in the Bush Admin because it was so secretive.

Since you really didn't understand what I was saying, I'll go ahead and spell it out for you.

It is one thing for Obama (or any other leader) to say the right things. It is something far different to come up with an effective plan of action that does not leave us vulnerable to attack.

I thought what I was saying was pretty clear. I guess you just have to dumb it down sometimes.

I might be misremembering, but didn't Pakistan claim that we were bombing within their borders for a long time before we admitted to it?

That makes sense for the Pakistan attacks - although the conservative criticism there was not the attacks, but talking about the attacks. But for Iraq and Afghanistan, that makes no sense. That involves moving actual troops and setting actual public deadlines.
