Everyone had to be sappy/non-radioish this week, so that helps Archuletta

    Archuletta/Cook
    Carly

    Syesha

    Brooke
    Castro

Expect and hope to see Brooke go even though Castro was worse by a little bit. Syesha I don't particularly like (though I like her better than Brooke), but she sang too well this week to go anyway.

Well, Carly is gone. Her 2nd half of the song was solid I thought.. but oh well, she wasn't GREAT either. Really anyone but the Davids could have gone tonight.

She pulled off something different...she seems to have gained weight throughout.

Maybe the lesson is.. don't sing a song with "Jesus" in the title on a show requiring votes! haha

    Not even close.

He should have audited for teen American Idol. Nice kid with lots of poential, but it is a little to early for him to be in this thing.

I'm telling you that Carly's husband undermined her, as he's been apt to do all season: 1) Carly has a good performance, 2) the camera immediately pans to her freaktacular husband, and 3) America is horrified, and Carly instantly loses all goodwill she built from singing the hell out of her song. I guess last night was just the final straw. Honestly, I don't know what else it could be, because she is (was) clearly the best singer in the competition. Oh, well. Goodbye, Melinda Doolittle, Part II.

BTW, it's amazing to me that none of the 3 ringer contestants this season (i.e. the ones who had prior record deals with major labels) made the top 5 this season.

    Vescey,

I think the fact that she is Irish and not from the USA, and it is AMERICAN Idol also hurt her...

No biggie......David Cook is still in.

haha, just teasing. I understand your point, and if there was a teen American idol that catered to the preteen demographic, I'd agree. But, I don't think he'll have to wait long before he starts raking it in and garnering praise. The way Miley is commanding ticket prices and inspiring religious fanaticism, I'd say she's a real life American idol. If she can be one, her boy version can turn that potential in to $$$ today and be all over the media too. little girls' hands reach pretty deep into daddies' wallets.

She has power, but in no way has Doolittle's complete singing ability package.

Wow. I missed the show and I had no idea that Carly got voted off. She had one of the top 2 performances the other night. Very undeserving.

She did screw up the lyrics Tuesday night, but the judges didn't notice. She made a joking comment about it last night after she sang it again - somthing like "at least I got the lyrics right..."

She played it off very well unlike Brooke did. I think that maybe the voters sympathized with Brooke for being so stand up about forgetting the lyrics.

She did it well enough that not a lot of folks noticed (especially considering most of the viewers are too young to even know the lyrics to Jesus Christ - Superstar).

When they got down to the final 12, I initially thought it would be Carly, David and David as the final 3, but as the last few weeks went by, I changed my mind, mainly because she is just not likeable.

I think it will be Jason, David and David. Jason may not have range and folks tend to say he could have a "Jack Johnson" type of career in a negative way. I think Jason would take that type of career in a heartbeat.

Out of the 12, David Cook will sell the most records in the next 5 years.

I downloaded David Cook's 2006 indie album, Analog Heart, and it's actually pretty good. Imagine if he had some songwriting help, good producer, and a state-of-the-art recording studio to work with...

I wasn't directly comparing the two; I was merely pointing out that she's the Melinda Doolittle of THIS season. Carly and Melinda were (far and away) the best singers in their respective seasons, and they both bowed out early.

    It's the husband's fault! :p

OMG! WTF is up with Paula Abdul?

I thought I was going crazy when she started judging his second song.

(i bet kristy lee cook would have sang "america" to stay on the show if she had made it this far, hahaha)

    1st song

    archuletta
    syesha

cook (break b/c his was kinda easy)

    castro
    brooke

    2nd song

cook (best performance of the night by a looonng mile)

syesha (i don't know, it was fun at least...and solid)
brooke (don't like her, but she did well on this one..)
archuletta (judges liked it, somehow i thought it wasn't as good)

    castro

    So I guess overall..

    Cook (for the 2nd song he's #1)
    Syesha
    Archuletta/Brooke

Castro <-- should REALLY be out after this performance.

After last night I think I've finally started to like Cook as a performer now.. Like most others I think it's David A's competition to lose, but I think Cook could give him a good run for the money in the finals.. Also, I really like how Brook comes across as totally genuine person every week and not like some robot or puppet.. IMO she is great on the piano, and I think she'll be in the top three...

Looks like the judges comments are scripted in advance. Very nice...
