I don't think he'll win the whole thing. I like him a lot, though. Reminds me of a Jason Mraz(sp?) type.

So is this Castro guy the designated pretty boy like that Sanjaya girl was to American Idol a couple seasons ago?

I thought it was extremely impressive too, but the guy that tried to do Our Lady Peace (my fav. band) really SUCKED. I have recordings of myself singing that exact song that are better than that, and I'm no American Idol contestant.

Yeah, normally I love David Cook, but something was not right tonight. I didn't like how he held his hand up to the camera at the end either. IMO, he is very lucky that he has had so many good performances before this one, or he would be in trouble.

I really liked his version of Hallelujah that he did earlier this season, it was probably my favorite performance of any contestant before this one tonight.

If Cook doesn't get voted off tonight I think it should come down to him, Archuleta, and Castro. The others are good singers, but lack the star quality.

Oh, the key to having a good week in Idol is taking a popular song that everyone knows and finding an obscure remade version of it to perform.

Archuletta hasn't had to rely on a popular song remade.. and neither have any of the previous idol winners that I can remember.

Anyway, I agree that it should come down to Archuletta and Cook. Castro is kinda up and down sometimes... as is Carly and Michael Johns. I think any of those 3 could easily be in 3rd place.

What I do know is that I want Kristy Lee Cook gone asap.. and then Brooke and Syesha after that.

Last night, I was disappointed in everyone except Archuletta. Cook blew nuts on Our Lady Peace.. and writing on the hand was a punk move to steal votes. Castro's version of the song was good, but I thought it was pretty easy for him to sing.. and all the others were just so-so. I think Syesha is out.

I don't think so. He seems pretty talented.

Have you seen...and heard Michael Johns? Michael has the voice to take the 80s power ballads and really make a career of it.

It also doesn't hurt that he is eye candy.

Did you see Simon crack up in the background when Cook showed the writing on his hand at the end of the song. It was hilarious.

yeah it was awesome. And then Paula had to bring it up again--you know Simon hated that--but he couldn't say anything negative about "Give Back" so he just had to say "It was really nice" and swallow his tongue.

I hope Cook makes it through.........David that is....

He has been by far the most consistent.

I also liked Jason Castro too....the last time I heard that version of the song was in the movie "50 first dates"

I like David Cook but what the hell was that last night? He inspired me to go take a piss while he was singing and that's about it. I think he and Archuleta are the 2 best singers. I think the song itself sucked more than David's actual vocal performance.

David Archuleta is good but all his songs sound basically the same. Great voice but I wish he had a little variety like Cook does. He's got the teenagers and their text loving asses behind him so my guess is that he's going to win the whole thing.

Carly Smithson needs to tell AI to keep her tattoo faced husband off camera. I guarantee she loses votes everytime people see that dude. She's got a good voice and all but it's hard to get in to her performances. Somethings missing with her,.

Jason Castro would be good at singing children's movie soundtracks and that's about it. He's definitely a 1 trick pony. Chicks like him and that doo of his so more power to him.

Syesha can sing. I don't know why she gets trashed other than the judges don't dare sing Mariah, Whitney or Fantasia (whom I think is way overated) rationale. She's not going to win and even may get voted off tonight.

Kristy Lee. If that show was called American Doable, she'd get lots of votes. But it's not and she's not very good and really needs to go tonight.

Michael Johns has some talent but singing Aerosmith songs isn't a strong point for him. When he started singing Dream on, I didn't think he could hit the high notes and I was right.

Brooke White come across as very timid and ordinary on most nights. She's got her niche in the music world I guess. But she doesn't have the variety or confidence to win this show.

Same here. I think he probably has the best voice, but I hate his song selections.

I don't get everyone's fascination with David Archuleta. Would anyone REALLY buy his album or attend his concerts? The guy is gonna be Taylor Hicks/Jordan Sparks/Fantasia/Ruben Studdard all over again: adored on AI, ignored in the real world. When Archuleta puts out an album 6 months to a year after AI concludes its season (and the buzz has worn off), his album is gonna be received with a huge serving of "meh". He may be "adorable" now when he's singing crappy Josh Groban-esque schlock on a TV show that the public can view for free, but when fans have to plunk down actual money for his album, they'll desert him in droves. It also doesn't help that Archuleta looks like a wooden puppet (creepy) and has about as much personality as a coffee mug.

The only contestants I can see having any impact on the music scene after AI is David Cook (who'll sell as well as Daughtry has, IMO) and Jason Castro (soon to be heard at a Starbucks near you).

Completely agree with everything you wrote. Except I still can't help but think Archuletta is the best one in the competition. His voice is so pure and good and always on pitch. But yeah, I still doubt I'd want to listen to his album (though someone could write some catchy songs and pull me in I'm sure)

I think Archuletta has weird taste in music, and that may ultimately hurt him...this is looking for a POP star, and although his voice is pure, his song choices SUCK nads.

Here is the original from the Castro song, it is awesome.
