I'll write a little more when I have time later, but I have Andrew going home. Not because of VFTW, but because I thought he was definitely the worst yesterday. Surprising.

In theory, it should easily be these 5 who make it to the "top 5": Crystal, Siobahn, Mike, Casey, Lee

for once, i don't think he deserves to if we're basing it purely on this week

The writers write some amusing stuff sometimes. That website is single handedly keeping him on the show.

Actually the little girls that see this are single-handedly keeping him on the show.

haha, nahh...I'd already seen that photo about 2 weeks ago. I still haven't voted for him. Or anyone from this season. Maybe I'll start at top 5.

I thought she was the best of the night. Go figure.

American Idol has certainly got a formula these days, and everyone should sound like Daughtry.

To me she is singing on the level with Celine Dion.

That's a little crazy. Celine Dion, seriously?

I thought she was so-so this week...somewhere in the middle of the pack. But even at her best...come on, don't go overboard cause she's being compared to mostly lesser talent.

Who sounds like Daughtry on this year's show? Casey sounds like freaking Huey Lewis. I don't know who I'd compare Lee to, but it's not Daughtry. And no one else is even close. Not sure where you're getting your argument

WHAT? No, I'm not just repeating your name.

I would never compare her voice to Celine Dion. Don't get me wrong, Siobhan has a beautiful voice when singing the perfect song that suits her, but I would not go as far as saying that.

Besides, he was talking about last week...not last night.

I think he means their style of music. Nickelback, Daughtry, David Cook, Hinder etc all have kinda the same rough voice and that rock'ish style to them.

If thats what he means, then yes, I agree with him. I want someone different to win. I don't know what kind of music Siobhan would sing....pop/rock?? Crystal, Big Mike, Lee and Casey pretty much have established what kind of singers they are.

so here's how i saw it..

    crystal (beastly)
casey (solid. has the potential to make this season suck less if he keeps improving)

    mike (weird ass jacket. solid)
katie (she did better...didn't think it was as good as the judges thought)
siobhan (boring, but she did well)
lee (so much more confident.. pitch issues though. he'll be good going forward though)

tim (boring, easy, but he didn't mess it up)
aaron (forgettable; looked really nervous/fidgety after)
andrew (might be time for him to go. weird start to the song among other things. might be saved by the fact that he sang a well-known song)

i thought ellen degeneres would be funny. i gave her a chance. now i'm really annoyed

easy top 5 remaining (not this week, though almost): crystal, casey, mike, lee, siobhan

    out this week: andrew

Yeah I knew that's what what meant...but I don't agree with the generalization.

Because David Cook is similar to Daughtry, suddenly "American Idol has certainly got a formula these days, and everyone should sound like Daughtry" ?? sample size of 1 = generalization?

extremely predictable once the result was known

But once it was Mike that was out.. knowing there would only be 3 more shows to use the save, they HAD to use it there. He's clearly one of the top 5. Plus this will be a wakeup call for all the fans that they have to vote for their people if they actually care.

I was almost right on my bottom 3

Ellen is doing fine, Randy just keeps stepping on her lines! He does not understand sarcasm at all.

I'm doing fine with her comedy. She is being herself. But she is starting to go too far in critiquing their singing and performance ability, and it's gotten to the point that she's being so repetitive that I'm consciously thinking "she isn't part of this industry, she doesn't know what she's saying."

She either needs new criticisms when she's being serious about critiquing them, or she needs to stick more to the comedy and the half-assed critiquing (like Paula did). And yes, if she had a musical or recording background, she coudl get away with being repetitive. The addition of her lack of expertise is what hurts her
