I just saw this movie yesterday and I wanted to know what everyone thinks about it. I thought it was excellent. The acting was great, the plot was good, and the movie had a positive message. It gets a 9/10 in my book.

I loved that movie. It's in my top 5 in the movie thread.

Great acting, great plot, great direction, great script. Not cliched. Realistic. I can't find enough superlatives for it. Edward Norton's easily my favorite actor right now - love all of his work, and his versatility as well.

This was the first movie I had seen with Edward Norton, although I'm looking forward to his new movie with Robert DeNiro. I think it's called "The Score."

My wife and I actually got stopped in the mall a few weeks ago and asked if we wanted to watch a movie preview for one of those survey groups. We saw the original trailers for "The Score" and were asked a bunch of questions.

So, if the trailers are different now, it is in part due to our comments. [IMG]

That was a great movie, but there was one flaw:

How could a white supremicist enjoy the NBA?

    Really good film...ending was shocking...

I saw it on DVD also...the deleted scenes improved it (ie you saw why that racist prick and the big fat c#nt got beaten up after hassling the white girl / black guy couple in the diner)

ZRB...that contradiction is pretty normal. Hate groups are hardly known for their intellect and contradictions (ie hating blacks but liking basketball) are common in real groups also...

I remember a group a few years ago who blew up an asian resteraunt...they interviewed one of them and asked why they chose that resteraunt and the guy said "we knew it because we used to eat their all the time..."

Good point SRJ, good point. Those racists aren't exactly bright, are they.

    ABSOLUTELY.

Rounders is my favorite movie that nobody has heard of. Which is strange considering some of the bigger actors in that one...check it out NOW, I beg you. [IMG]

American History X is one of my favorite movies. Edward Norton does an absolutely amazing job in his transformation from the racist into something better.

As an aside, this movie has the most painful scene I have ever watched. In the scene where Norton's character gets arrested after he shoots the guys trying to steal his car, when he tells the black guy to "bite the curb", and then steps down on his head, splitting his head at the jaw, and killing the guy (I can only assume). Nothing was shown, really, but just the image of that happening is so gruesome, I don't even want to think about it.

I know what you mean, RunninRaven, that scene was sickening. That and the look on his face when the police are arresting him.

I only caught the second hour of this film a few weeks ago and was blown away. I plan to watch all of it when it is on tv next.

Amazing coinkydink, but American History X was shown tonight and I saw the first part of the film that I had previously missed. That scene you were talking about was particularly harrowing. It's an excellent film with a powerful message.

    Two thumbs up!

I don't think Ed Norton can make a bad movie. Ever Richard Gere could not pull him down in Primal Fear. He is definately on my top five list of actors.
