Probably b/c the average US BMI is around 28. Most likely higher in the South. Over 25 BMI puts you in overweight category. Above 30 is obese. Ain't nobody got time for that. I personally don't have an Adonis Belt as yet even though I have low body fat composition. But that is one of my life goals.
I've seen the Euros, most of them have no business wearing speedos either. I'm in good shape and there's no way in hell I would want to wear a speedo even if it was cool, and i sure as hell don't wanna see other dudes wearing them. Dear god keep the the mankinis in Europe, the galveston scenery already sucks enough.
The modern/young Euros all don't wear Speedos, don't know where you've been. This is not about US society but about fashion/trends. Speedos are out of fashion and will die, much like the old bathing suits did and got replaced by Bikinis.
Why? Far too many dudes don't have the figure that allows them to wear speedo's without looking like a complete fool. And not just in the States. Same can be said for a chick who wears a bikini, and doesn't have the body to carry it off without looking the clown. Not that big a mystery to me, OP.
Good board shorts, as a surfer, are infinitely more comfortable... Boxer are also more comfortable than briefs...
Well three things comes to mind as why. 1. I wear BOXERs. not tighty whiteys because of COMFORT. If I felt more COMFORTABLE in tighty whiteys then I would PROBABLY wear speedos. But I envision that speedos are just as uncomfortable as tighty whiteys so screw that. 2. America lately seems to be in this importation of European ideas/views and unfortunately all of them have pretty much backfired on us. I say we need to stop trying to be more like Europe and stay being more like America We don't wear speedos because we are men Speedo's are just about as r****ded as Alphanails are If you think http://www.alphanail.com/ is fabulous you probably think Speedo's are fabulous. I think they are pathetic 3. We live in a society of bigger upperbody and thinner lowerbody (that proportion while not as aesthetically pleasing is much better for sports (mma ect...) So with much more comfortable shorts it is easier to show off a big upperbody and legit calves while hiding thinner leg muscles. Since women wear heels to looks taller, wear weaves (or extensions for white girls) to hide their ugly hair, wear makeup to hide their face and make it look better, and of course extra padding for boobs.. I see no issue with men who are built for sports hiding thinner legs with swim shorts and I really do not see any argument that can be made here against that, especially by any woman.
