I find it funny(strange) that white democratic voters aren't voting for Obama for being black. It's the white republican voters that don't care about his race.
Its not that they dont care if he is black. They have a much better excuse not to vote for him than admitting its because he is black. They just say they are staunch Republicans and will vote for McCain. Dont get it twisted the White Dems are more turned off due to race. I'm sure if there was a Black Republican Nominee it would be the same....thats funny a Black Republican Presidential Nominee. Dont see that happening ANY time soon
Correct I await the conversation among republicans if (if ever) they nominate a black man for president.
When 1/3 of Dems say they won't vote for him because of his skin color is it really whining? For the record Obama isn't and hasn't whined about it. He's gone out of his way to not whine about it, or even use race at times when he could have fairly done so. What about when a Georgia Republican called Barack and Michelle "uppity". We still have that kind of crap going on in this country, and rather than complain about the racism, you complain about people who point it out. You are aiming for the wrong target.
pouhe [Yeah; but by that logic, your white co-workers probably push themselves even harder, just so there can be no doubt about the social order.] Maybe, but I don't see it.
I would vote for one in today if he were a strong Christian conservative and believed in American and the constituion.
It's been proven before. Saying you'll vote for a black candidate is different than going to the polls and voting for him.
sooner or later there'll be a black president just because he's black...may as well be now and get it over with...
Who knows if America is ready or not. I know one thing I'm ready for it but something tells me he won't win. Even if he doesn't win I think Obama came a long ways to get where hes at.
I don't know if America's ready, but given all the advantages he has, if Obama doesn't win, then it has to be race. Pure and simple. Personally, I never thought this would become a big enough factor. But it's certainly become a much bigger issue that I ever imagined.
Does this mean you are saying that if folks vote for McCain they are racist? Isn't it O.K. for me to simply agree with more of McCain's platform that Obama's platform? And, if it's O.K. for me, isn't it O.K. for anyone else?
A millionaire, first-term Senator not getting the most powerful job in the world in 2008 is not the same as blacks 44 years ago being forced to use different water fountains.
Perhaps. Obama has a lot of overwhelming advantages that tend to determine the outcome of the election. He's more charismatic than McCain. He is a lot better fundraiser. His opponent's party is currently the most unpopular incumbent in US history, he opposes a very unpopular war, etc. etc. etc. And it's laughable that you're even bringing up the platforms. I wasn't even thinking about the issues factor, since elections is really no longer about them, and is more about character and smear campaigns.
