Hate to inform you of this but that's not the way it works. Take it from someone who is half and half as well.
It appears some blacks aren't ready for a black president. <div><object width="420" height="339"><param name="movie" value="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/k1mC4XAX6VW4JHLYgh" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><embed src="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/k1mC4XAX6VW4JHLYgh" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="339" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always"></embed></object><br /><b><a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/k1mC4XAX6VW4JHLYgh">Obama22 blacks against obama</a></b><br /><i>by <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/dollarsandsense123">dollarsandsense123</a></i></div>
After George Bush, that couldn't be further from the truth. Josh Howard could be a better president than Bush was.
“I’m going to tell you something: That boy’s finger does not need to be on the button. He could not make a decision in that simulation that related to a nuclear threat to this country.” -Kentucky Rep. Geoff Davis (R) Yep...simulation
I agree with this but I don't think this is as large as it seems. Blacks have sided with Democrats since the 1960s so I doubt it would matter who is the candidate, the Democrats would pull in the majority of the black vote.
http://thepage.time.com/2008/09/20/poll-race-driving-some-white-dems-away-from-obama/ Essential reading: AP-Yahoo News poll finds “deep-seated racial misgivings could cost Barack Obama the White House if the election is close.” Says “one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks — many calling them ‘lazy,’ ‘violent’ or responsible for their own troubles.” Suggests the percentage of voters who may turn away from Obama because of race could “easily be larger than the final difference between the candidates in 2004″ — about 2.5 percentage points.
BTW Major, my wife just read that article and it upset her so much that she started crying. My wife never cries. She’s more realistic than I.
If anything, being black may lead to him doing a better job. If he gets eledted, he will be under the microscope like no other. There will be a lot of pressure for him to succeed. If he does well he can shift some people over who were against a black president. If he fails, it may be a long time before another black man is a serious contender for the position. As a minority myself, I feel like I have to do the best job that I can and outperform others so there can be no doubt about what I earn.
so 30% of white democrats admit they won't vote for Obama simply because he's black? sounds like we've come a long way.
He shares very little in common with African Americans. He was raised by his white family (except for the period with Lolo, of course) and was not exposed to many African Americans in Hawaii, Kansas or Indonesia. This is the whole reason he aligned himself with Jeremiah Wright - in an attempt to get cred wit the African American community. Ironic that he distanced himself from Wright to gain back cred with the rest of America.
You and your ilk have been posting this same stuff for 18 months. I don't think you're going to drive any black men to McCain. Or any rational person for that matter.
How would you know? Are you Obama? Are you black? The truth is you have no earthly idea what you are talking about, which is par for the course. People like you who pontificate as if they know anything about being black in America are ignorant and don't even know it. So now tell us all how much you know about being a woman. We'd love to hear your wisdom on that too, kind sir.
Yeah; but by that logic, your white co-workers probably push themselves even harder, just so there can be no doubt about the social order.
