History Channel? In before the segment on Nostradamus predicting the Panic of 1837.

"See, he was only off by a few letters!"

I think watching the Ken Burns trilogy (The West, Civil War and the War) and the American Experience series can pretty much say everything that needs to be known about the country. How America was "invented?"

Yeah, the "History Channel" has always surprised me with its political stance and filter. Especially during Iraq II, it was like propaganda central. Nightly "documentaries" about how awful Saddam is/was; and it was like, um, okay, I guess it was good we launched a war to overthrow him?

Other times, a piece or two seems okay and just focused on the facts.

Maybe it just depends on the producer of a given piece. But overall, the historians I know think it's laughably bad, which is too bad. (I don't watch it except when I'm home with my parents, who alternate between FOX, ESPN and History.)

So I'm not going to be watching this series. There are so many good books to plow through before I watch what is probably a political-party sanctioned version of our nation's past. The fact that one of our local paid-per-thread G.O.Tea colleagues has posted this notice only reaffirms my fears for this particular series.

I have not read a single word of this thread, but does this have anything to do with a Festivus for the Rest-of-us?

Not at all SF, it is a detailed explanation of the rampant fraud within Oxfam. ;)

(Just kidding, I am a regular fincial supporter to Oxfam's cause myself.)

Some of you are more angry that the TEA Partiers--relax a bit and enjoy the power you guys currently have in Government--go dig up that sense of humor you guys buried during the Bush era.

Save you anger for when you guys are back in the passenger seat--which may be a very long time from now--if the economy keeps improving like it is.

Even the depressing news today by the Head of School Education announced today that up to 300,000 teachers may be layed off is no reflection on Obama. He just got into office.

Since everyone on this board agrees that all our woes were caused by the past Republican administration, there won't be another Republican voted into office in our lifetime.

So relax, smile and enjoy being the Kings.

He pointed up the constant anger not the lack of anger.

Here's another version: An elephant and his ant friend were hiding from the big game hunter. When the time was right, the made a dash for the jungle but had to cross an old bridge which made the wooden bridge planks bounce and rattle.

When they had disappeared into the safety of the jungle once again, the ant turned to the elephant breathlessly and said, "Boy we sure made that bridge rattle, didn't we?"

you dont think NBC, ABC, CNN have a political stance and filter?? if anything they are far more liberal than the history channel is conservative which I dont think it is. They focus on a wide variety of programing. I know my brother watches those stupid ghost shows with his buddies. I dont see how that has anything to do with history.

I do agree that Fox is definitely Pro-Republican. But I find it funny how the left never acknowledge that CNN, ABC, NBC news are definitely Pro-Democrat.

So you watch what you want and if you want the truth its probably somewhere in between. But almost all news outlets are a joke these days.
