Ausar is a better shooter, but he's still pretty bad. He put up good-ish numbers in the playoffs, but that could easily just be a hot streak vs legit improvement. During the season, he was...pretty bad. And yeah, if he's not going to be on-ball, then he needs to be a good shooter. Amen can get away with being a poor shooter by developing a nice floater/post game perhaps, assuming he'll be mostly on-ball as a team's main facilitator. Ideally they both learn to shoot, but shooting is *much* more important for Ausar than Amen. Now maybe Ausar can also be a PG/main facilitator. I'm not super opposed to developing him that way. I do think Amen is a much better prospect in this role. I don't think the assists numbers fully tell the story here (especially since their teammates are kinda trash). Amen is a much more creative, high end passer/playmaker. Ausar is a great passer too, but IMO he tends to make his decision early on whether to shoot or pass, which limits the types of passes he can make. Amen also is twitchier and better at breaking down defenders IMO, and I think he's also a better finisher.
Hey LISTEN UP everybody, the HOUSTON ROCKETS who happen to be picking 4th think that the Draft class that some people say has only 3 good players actually has 4 good players - I'm surprised that such a secretive update would be leaked around the league!
Seems like an attempt to keep the price down for moving up, and to get as much as they can for moving back. But I wish I could see the org’s big board.
Amen has been ranked at #3 by various draft analysts on and off throughout the past year. It's not some crazy new idea that only just now started getting floated that he might be equal to or better than Miller as a prospect. And I wouldn't be surprised to see Charlotte take Scoot and Portland take Amen, even now.
Stone has not been shy about making his draft preferences pretty clear. In this case, I wonder if pumping up Thompson is also aimed at Portland, or whomever is trading up. If the Trailblazers pick Amen one of Henderson, or Miller falls to the Rockets.
Scoot is not falling to #4. The question is, “Why team are not talking about Brandon Miller?” Brandon Miller has not worked out for Portland or Houston. Many Blazer’s media is saying they will take Scoot, or Amen….no mention of Brandon Miller. The media keep saying Brandon Miller will be picked high…either Charlotte or Portland. Houston is not saying one word about Brandon but have worked out Ausar, Amen and Anthony Black. GM Stone wants a tall, athletic point guard. I believe Stone is hoping for Amen, but if not he will try to turn Ausar into a point guard or trade down to draft 6’7 Anthony Black…I believe Brandon Miller is going to fall in the draft
Right, like they are going to leak that they think there is a huge gap between the 2nd and 3rd prospects and the rest of the class. LOL
