I get you, I was just saying that living out a dream with someone very close to you can upgrade your development so dramatically that it dwarfs a small amount of development. I’ve experienced that in my life, sometimes you have to reintroduce yourself to the joy of why you do it all. Between the two good choices, I think this one will probably benefit him and us more but again I get where you’re coming from.
I hate these off-season tournaments. The world baseball tournament cost us Altuve and Framber part seasons a couple of years ago. Amen getting injured would be a catastrophe for us. There is upside if he doesn’t get injured. I think the Canadian team experience did wonders for Dillon’s game. I don’t blame the players for wanting to play, but man does it make me nervous.
Team USA is about to get with a hard dose of reality. Steph/Lebron/Durant/Harden/ Dame/Russ ain't walking through that door and the best players in the NBA aren't Americans. USA is lucky Yugoslavia isnt a country anymore because they would be polishing their silver medals right about now. The next Olympics are up for grabs especially if the Twins aren't suiting up for them.
May have to add Wemby if he stays healthy, a big if. Cooper may take a little longer, but he is for sure going to get his opportunity to shine in Dallas.
Eh. I dont see it with Wemby. He feels fake AF to me. Cooper, Amen and Edwards....they *want* that smoke and theyre horribly talented. Wemby isnt built like that. Talented dude but he's a brat. I actually much prefer Chet. But both are made of glass.
Wemby might get hurt too much, but if he somehow stays completely healthy, he'll be a top 5 player no brainer. Amen might become better than he is though, all it will really take is the jump shot because they're very close in defensive value right now and Amen is a better passer who just hasn't had the chance to show it yet. Not sure on Cooper, I think the odds are he's more of #6-10 guy. Not sure I quite see #1 option with him, I think he'll be more like Paul George honestly. He isn't a LeBron, Wemby level talent coming out of the draft, he's closer to an Anthony Davis, John Wall, that level of prospect. Jokic might retire in a few years to go play with his horses. If not he could still be a top 5 guy I guess. If this injury hampers him, Tatum might already have peaked, and he's already a "borderline top 5" type of guy. I think it's right there for Amen to be a top 5 player toward the end of his 20s. Just needs to stay healthy and keep working hard.
Maybe. Jury is still out for me. Wemby with a 3 pt shot is going to be a problem if he can stay on the court.
I just....what is the point of being 7-3 if you're just gonna chuck 3s? His obsession with that makes no damn sense to me lol. Hes never going to be a serious threat from that distance and if youre a defense and a 7-3 guy decides to launch it....you've won the possession. I get doing it to keep a defense honest (like Sengun should and Jokic does) but Wemby will have games where he launches like 10 3s.
Jokic may be aging by the time Amen and Cooper get into their prime. Haliburton seem to be blossoming this playoffs run. If he can hold his own against SGA in the Finals, he may leap to that top tier.
He may fall in love with it from time to time, but he is effective inside as well. I don’t like the guy either and wouldn’t trade Amen for him straight up, but he is a force to be reckoned with when healthy. Best shot blocker in the league and plenty good at rebounding. I think you are selling the guy short so to speak.
2k myleague has recently(past couple weeks) been forcing Amen to point guard and FVV to the bench when I ask AI to do the lineups. All I am going to say
Nah I think he's really good in the same way that like...KAT is really good or Anthony Davis maybe. Supremely talented, especially at that size. I just don't think that their motor and mentality is at that next tier quite like the highest level players. Amen and Cooper Flagg are insane to me. Wemby is not cut from that same cloth. Those two are absolute T-1000s on a basketball court. I actually don't think Ausar is on the same level as Amen either from a mentality perspective. I'm left aghast at times at how much energy he exerts doing literally *everything* and taking it personally to boot. Watched Cooper still go off against Houston in the F4 and it was the same feeling. The dude is just built different. I don't know where that weird blend of talent and almost like....endless anger....comes from. When Amen finished over Payton and then stepped up to him I was like...damn wtf was that about.
I need a team of coaches, offensive consultants/specialists etc. working with Amen in the offseason to add skillsets to his offensive game. Much like how Sengun trained and worked with his team all summer before becoming an all star. Work on the full offensive package/playmaking, study film, outside threats and converting free throws. MVPs aren't made overnight, it's a daily lifestyle and regimen, enjoy the journey. Growth is the number one priority of the whole team to hit the next level.
