Please remove Amen from any trades thank you. Its not happening. The potential here is immense especially if he continues his upward trajectory in shooting.
thank you. He is the superstar we have been waiting for and needs to play his natural position of PG. People writing him off because of his shooting are being shortsighted. I don’t see how anyone could watch this video and say FVV should play over Amen. Ridiculous.
One thing you see in these highlights is the sheer variety in the ways he can score now inside the 3P line. It only took him one season to go from having no 3P shot at all, a below-average midrange jumper, and having decent touch around the rim, to have a solid corner 3Per, a pretty good midrange jump shot, and a wide variety of different high-skill-level finishes with great touch when around the basket. You also see great patience in some of these shots, and a willingness to play through contact. He says one of his favorite player is SGA, and you can see it in the way his skills have already developed. If he makes the same improvement this offseason he did during the previous one, he will already be an all-star-level offensive player in addition to being a perennial DPOY contender. As I said right after the playoffs ended... we have found our franchise player.
I watch a lot of this guys scouting videos and think he's pretty good. I wanted to look at some of his older videos to see how accurate he was in his evals and I came across this video on Amen:
Countless of NBA players have learned how to shoot once they got to the league. Pascal Siakam, Jaylen Brown etc. If Amen develops his jumper it's game over
I believe we should start Amen at PG next year with Reed and Green(if he us here, or his replacement) being the backup.
Thompson Twins Considering Playing For Jamaican National Team The Thompson twins, Amen and Ausar, have begun the process of acquiring Jamaican citizenship. The two can become citizens because their father is Jamaican. This would allow the Thompson twins to play for Jamaica on the national team level. Jamaica has reportedly secured a commitment from Norman Powell of the LA Clippers to play in upcoming FIBA events. The Jamaican national team is also recruiting Nick Richards of the Phoenix Suns, Isaiah Stewart of the Detroit Pistons and Josh Minott of the Minnesota Timberwolves to play for the team as well.
I actually am a little bit disappointed Amen is playing for Jamaica, not out of some sense of patriotism, but players always talk about how much they grow and learn from playing on Team USA and he 100% would have made the team, I have little doubt of that, being an elite defender would have locked him up a role on the team and I think even his brother could have snuck on there in a role too. It's not a HUGE deal but eh
I think someone needs to punch Draymond full strength right in the jibblets. That would be a shame if it ever happened.
Scored most of his points from the dunkers spot? He did what Jalen needed to do. Go into the lane with some force. Amen should start at 2 guard.
I mean come on man, two brothers get to lead a nation and play like two Michael Jordans on the court. Some things in life are worth more than basketball or money. I would do the same thing. Isaiah Stewart Nic Richards Ausar Amen Norman Powell That team is no joke in international play, so they're not just having fun. There's a serious chance they upset some big teams IMO. Amen and Ausar guarding your two best wings on international rules is not going to go well for even the best wings in the world. Stewart and Richards also have a mean streak so I can see the identity here.
I never said they were just doing it for fun I just mentioned how playing on Team USA has helped the development of young players and an entire big three championship team was made because of it as well. So yeah, personally, I'd rather have Amen playing on team USA wit Chet, Ant, Haliburton, Tatum, etc etc because there are some benefits of playing and training with those guys but also you can make connections with those guys so that when they hit FA maybe you have an edge. But it's not up to me, I was just stating why I was a little disappointed he wasn't playing for team usa
I think there is a clear procedure involving Team US recruitment.......it surely is not Rockets handing the reins to you in Year 1 or Year 2...... takes at least 5 years. They also view your Team US activities as more important than just league performances. Invitation to Mini camp as sparring partner Then you are on a waiting list for couple years..... Then you are on Team B..... Waiting Starting to be on Team A bench .... Possible starter.... Possible Numero Uno or Dos
It's different for star players. They skip all that. That process you mentioned are for guys who are desperately trying to make the team. If Team USA wants to pick a player they just pick him and he skips all of that. If Amen wanted to play for USA, I think he gets in, even as he is now, let's say he never improves much from what he is now. He's a career 14ppg guy with first team all NBA defense. He's going to make the team just because of his defense. There are always multiple guys who make the team just on defense and Amen was legit a top 3 defender this past season. He would have made the 2028 team if he wanted to. His brother, I don't know, 2028 is a long ways off though. As for Jamaica, he has a chance to really put the country on the map for international basketball so that is something and he gets to play with his brother and that is a pretty solid team. I get why he's done it. I just wish we had a Rocket representing Team USA, sure as hell not going to be Jalen (please prove me wrong Jalen) and obviously can't be Sengun, so unless someone else surprises us before 2028 Amen was our only shot at that. So yeah, selfishly I wished he would have played for Team USA with all the other young USA players but I don't hate his decision or anything.
Not really but an intriguing discourse all the same. Jayson Tatum was coming off a Championship and was treated as the 8th Man by Kerr during the Olympics. The headcoaches have their own hierarchy and I am sure he left out players like Fox.... If Udoka became US coach, of course he is recalling Amen due to familiarity. Also international play doesn't favor heavy minutes anyway.
