Amen should never come off the bench for the rest of his career. udoka has to make a decision with brooks and jabari. One has to sit.
During his postgame remarks, Udoka basically confirmed my suspicion they are deliberately allowing Amen to run the point more often. (Jalen too). Amen clearly adds a missing dynamic to the equation. While his vision, instincts and passing are good, Amen has to cut down the TOs. This forces Udoka to put the ball back in Fred's hands at the end (unless Jalen is going nuclear). Hopefully Amen can earn that role by tightening up his handles and taking fewer risks in crunch time.
Ja Morant is an elite athlete, and Amen Thompson went by him in the open court like he was standing still. Amazing third gear.
It's going to be interesting. I'm a big Jabari guy too, but something is going to have to give. Amen has an elite skill, and it translates to what Udoka wants to do. I don't know how you put him back on the bench. I don't think there is any way you can now.
haha same. I do think Jabari will be a long term player for this team. He seems like a winning player and I think his defense and shooting will help the team win a ring one day. But I think Amen is our best player with the highest potential so I’m all in favor of him starting. Like someone said, I don’t envy Ime here, at all. Brooks or Jabari to bench, that’s rough lol. Maybe a good ol coin flip will settle it. Hah.
I think you can use Jabari’s injury as an excuse to “bring him back slowly” off the bench for the remainder of the year. You can point to Tari’s situation as support to convince both fans and Jabari that it’s the right move.
That play where he poked the ball out of Jas hand while backstepping, kinda lost balance but was still able to recover off his back foot going backwards to SPRING up for the block was otherwordly. That's the unreal athleticism LeBron mentioned.
Amen is prime Iggy except bigger and more athletic. Bizarre. Him being on the court does much more for Green than Jabari. Never bench him ever again.
Iggy and the twins are actually the same exact size. All 3 are exactly 6'5.75 without shoes Amen 214, Iggy 217, Ausar 218 Twins 7'0 wingspans, Iggy 6'11 wingspan All 3 came into the league and got measured at 20 years old It doesn't get closer than that lol
I'm a huge fan of Smith, too, but the starting lineup looks very good with Thompson at the PF spot. The pace seems faster and Thompson's crisp passes are helping the offensive flow. I thought there may be some problems against teams with larger frontcourts, but so far, that hasn't been an issue. And the glass half full argument for Smith going to the bench is that a Smith/Adams frontcourt with a focused Whitmore could destroy opposing team's second units.
Probably Jabari since he's coming off an injury and they'll use the "ease him back in line". Then based on how he performs determines if he replaces Brooks in the lineup
Once again, Amen played the most minutes (41). You really think Ime's gonna take him out of the starting lineup when Bari comes back? It's obvious Amen is now one of Ime's favorite players, if not his favorite player period. And I get it -- you couldn't design a better Ime player in a factory.
i'm intrigued to see what Jabari would look like off the bench. I think there would be a ton of favorable match-ups for him and could let him come out with a lot less pressure, which he has obviously struggled with at times.
This! Great point. I am envisioning a paint that is shut down by Adam's presence along with Jabari's week side blocking potential and if Tari can get healthy... a bench unit of: Adams Jabari Tari Cam Holiday\Reed That my friends is a SQUAD! You have defense, shooting, size, hustle, and rebounding...
