He's obviously not serious about basketball. I have grown to hate Amen Thompson.

I was mocking him. He's hiding something. I just know it.

Given the Rockets are in a different phase now, what's the over/under on how many years before Amen is starter ready?

Depends how quick his shot comes along most likely. He has vision, passing, athleticism and defense as his base skillset pre-NBA. That translates. He might be ready sooner than he gets the opportunity due to FVV regardless, which may even be a better route for him than him getting handed the keys like Jalen was right out of the gate.

Since the question was "starter ready," I will say 0.5 - which is different from thinking he will start . I think he will be in the starting line up by all-star break 2025. The Westbrook, Ben Simmons, Jason Kidd, Deron Williams comps make me think he will be ready pretty quickly. You find a spot on the court for unselfish playmakers who play defense.

It'll be interesting to see how much time he gets behind VanVleet and if he'll see any significant minutes with the other starters.

The way he said it twice.... he isn't sure. Don't expect to see much of Amen this season.

FVV is the perfect fit next to him as he can be spot up and off the ball. Amen will be at 25 mins per night this year. Should be starting next year.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Amen force us to trade FVV before the first two years are up. I would be surprised if we exercised FVV's third year team option (unless it's part of a trade deal).

This is why the non-guaranteed third year is so important. Not signing a vet PG for more than two years is looking better and better.

Why we would try to get rid of our best player, fvv, when he is the perfect fit alongside Amen is weird. I think Brooks is going to be a positive player for us but fvv is an allstar, why wouldn’t Amen just take Brooks spot instead? Fvv started alongside Lowry while Lowry ran the pg…

Tanking is so etched into y’all’s heads that the second we get a good player you guys want to get rid of him. There’s a better chance the Rockets extend fvv than reject the team option in year 3 and let him walk. The team is trying to get better, not move vets to give rookies more minutes, Silas era is over.

KPJ has to be traded first, there is just not enough room and he is not that great of a swiss army knife.

Who would trade for FVV other than an expiring contract, when you can sign FVV after 2-3 years for comparably peanuts!

Nobody wants to get rid of FVV now. The assumed scenario is both Amen and Green being stars in a couple of years. FVV will have no place other than off the bench. You don't want to bench a guy who is paid max money.

But, there's one other possibility. If Amen is really that good by the third year, maybe he can play the LeBron role. Not saying Amen will be the next LeBron, just the similarity. He has the size to play the wing on defense and be the facilitator on offense playing alongside with two shooting guards. It would be great if we have three playmakers on the court at the same time. But Amen has to be able to shoot by then.

If amen and Jalen are both stars, fvv would be the perfect complement to them both. Why would anyone replace him over Brooks when he is the far better player. Amen is 6’7 with a 7 foot wingspan, his physicals are more suited to guard big wings than even Brooks.
