I compare him to rookie Lonzo except he’s a worse shooter, worse rebounder, worse playmaker and worse defender. That’s not a bad player but they have similar weaknesses. Their athleticism is eye popping but they both don’t have enough creativity or ball handling to use that in the halfcourt. All of these are correctable and will come in time but the issues are so glaring that you can’t predict their success until they do get corrected. But they’re both so smart that their presence usually helps the team in a positive way 9/10 times.
Lonzo was pretty athletic, but Amen is on another level. Also bigger and stronger. It's probably the best overall comp though, you're right
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a rookie more nervous. He’ll be fine. Said it before this is going to be a roller coaster ride until this team can digest everything that is coming at them. They are drinking from a firehouse.
in a few months, there could be a new thread titled as 'Cam Whitmore is the Rockets' Franchise Player', i would not be surprised.
if Ime wanna win now, a better starting lineup should be : FVV (pg) Whitmore (sg) Brooks (sf) Tari (pf) Goon (C) i bet the hc gotta tweak the lineup after first 20 games. there i said it.
couldn't agree more. at least camis stronger than jg who can hardly add a few more pounds (cmon it's his third season), cam obviously aint fear any contact in the air.
Sengun fans after bad game: "Be patient. Sengun is only young, give him time he's still learning" Sengun fans after someone else's bad game: "He sucks he'll never be anything. Fire Stone!!" Amen will be fine. He just needs to calm down
I think having a year of college game, especially with the March Madness experience, gives a kid a chance to feel the big stage pressure. OTE and G-league games are more like summer league. Nobody cares who wins.
It's just so weird that he's nervous. There's literally nothing to be nervous about. - Didn't come in with the hype of LeBron/Wemby - Isn't expected to produce like prime MJ - Isn't playing for a contract - Isn't on a contender, nor pretender - First game of the season No team pressure, no societal pressure, no financial pressure. The only player on this roster with any major major pressure is Jalen Green and to a lesser extent, Sengun. And that's this season as a whole - not only game 1 of 82.
If you think that's based off of 21 minutes he played in game 1, then you're also devoid of reading comprehension.
You're not responding to anything... He doesn't have Andre Igoudala level shooting yet... Nor is he that level of player yet or even close.... I'm saying I predict he'll be that level of player at best.
Isn't he first off the bench with starter-like minutes? Hasn't he already played multiple positions during the preseason? I think the coaching staff has very high expectations of him and I think seeing his court vision, they gave him somewhat of not just the green light, but a larger role than a typical rookie. He was embarrassingly not ready for it in game 1. But it's just one game. He has great potential. Great opportunity for him to grow and for the Rockets to see how he deals with embarrassing mistakes. Looking forward to seeing how he responds today.
