Shorter than Scoot, but I am not paid to be a PG - and my fingers reach my keyboard just fine....and dance around in a fine symphony. Focus on the topic sir, don't gum up the GARM with focusing on posters. DD
Is this for just the Rockets or in general? I think for our team as currently constructed and projecting into the future, Amen is a perfect fit. We already have an great on-ball scorer in Jalen, secondary playmaker in Alpi, and off-ball threats like Jabari and FVV (in the short term). His size and defense also helps him cover for Jalen or FVV when necessary. As a prospect in general though, I think Scoot is on another level. The MVP potential is already clear. He moves with a basketball better than most people move without one. He can just get wherever he wants to be and he has multiple ways of finishing at different spots on the floor. That said, some of his offensive skills would be redundant on the Rockets do there's a bit of a diminishing return that let's Amen close the gap for this team specifically.
Seeing as we had no opportunity to get Scoot. Amen will be the greatest point guard ever, and Scoot sucks! It's going to be fun match up to watch, hopefully for many years barring injuries, etc.
I saw the same thing in the one game he played. Scoot’s question is in the defensive end. He has the strength and quickness, but does he have the will to be a two way player. In one game, Amen showed that he had both the offensive and defensive abilities for the NBA. That is why I am happy that Amen was our pick.
I think so, but I also think Scoot is currently a much better shooter and has more of a bag offensively. Hate to say it but I'd still bet on Scoot being the better player overall, but it's very much within the realm of possibility that Amen ultimately exceeds him.
Also Scoot probably initially will be the better defender because he won't get pushed around as much. Dude is built like a tank.
An aspect not talked about at all is the fact that, in the past 12mo Scoot has really started to build up a dossier of injuries leading to a lot of missed games. They are all supposedly flukey, but over time it stops becoming coincidental.
Yeah - that concerns me a bit about him - that may be the biggest threat to his success. I believe several people in his family have had career ending injuries in their lower body as well leading me to believe he may have a genetic tendency towards that. Scary stuff - and especially tragic for a franchise that already has lost studs like Walton and Brandon Roy (and dare I say Greg Oden) to career inhibiting injuries that otherwise prevented them from being serious contenders.
Neither one of those 2 are running out of the arena at halftime, so we'd have that going for us, which is nice....
Lucky for Amen he seems to have tree trunks type legs, not baobab tree, but very strong lower base which should help until his upper frame fills out and catches up, after that he may be able to spot guard 4's if need be But Henderson is built like a upgrade new tank version of E. Bledsoe
