Sengun makes the offense function. Jalen makes some quarters function. Amen makes everything function.
The shot is improving as well. Maybe not the three ball but you can tell he’s getting more comfortable hitting little jumpers. He can generate a good look at the rim anytime he wants and always has to draw a double team to be stopped.
I think Amen is already as good as AK47, honestly. Obviously the league isn't going to have caught up to it yet, but I think his defense is right there in the top 5ish range Kirilenko was in at his peak. Statistically, they're very close in other areas for per-minute, per-possession production. And Amen has still played in fewer than 100 NBA games. So I feel pretty comfortable in saying he will be better than AK47. Marion but with better passing I can see as a median outcome? I think he could become even better than that in the best-case scenario.
give Amen that middy that Westbrook had in his prime and it's game over. You either play him close and allow him to get right by you or you keep giving him space, then he can rise up for that stop and pop mid-range J. The sky is limit for Amen, just gotta focus on a few shots. I feel like a mid-range jumper will add more to his game than improving his spot up three point shot.
Amen is as fast or faster than Dominique Wilkins in the open court, but the finishes are pretty similar. When Amen's making that little jumper, I see shades of Dr. J, but I don't think Thompson can palm the ball like the doctor. I think Amen may already be better than AK47 and Marion.
I believe having the 2nd best record in the West should net us at least one all-star and for me it is clearly Amen. Throw the stats out the door, my eyes don’t lie and he and FVV are the ONLY ones I trust at crunch time in a tight game.
Very impressed with Amen this year but let’s hold off on giving him the keys to the White House and giving a bunch of kids in Asia a full time job making Air Amens. I understand The Magic comparisons with his size, skillset and athleticism. I wouldn’t compare him to Shaun Marion who wasn’t that great and benefitted from peak Steve Nash, a crazy new play-style and 8 on 5 ball. I’m trying to put my finger on who he reminds me of. One name pops into my head but I need to watch some video to be sure. At any rate this team is coming together nicely and Amen has been a nice surprise for me. We have a lot of dogs on the team and the perfect coach for those types of players. It’s too bad that FVV’s contract is up this offseason and not Brooks because I’d rather FVV stay another year before the youth movement takes over. Looking really good, fam. LFG!!!
I said it multiple times during his rookie year that I love watching amen play basketball. He’s a badass mother ****er
they can always offer FVV to stay for less money / less minutes and a future coaching staff/front ofc role
Not at all Dr. J and not Marion….too me the closest comparison is Westbrook with great defense. Amen himself has said his game emulates Westbrook’s game. He also has the Westbrook’s intensity on the court.
I cannot be bothered by all this who is best when nothing was won......let them be at their pinnacle and we shall revisit that again.
He is a new breed of Rookie McGrady, Westbrook and maybe Penny and Tayshaun Prince. The defensive instinct cannot be compared to anyone, he is the first kind of his breed.
Amen has improved by leaps & bounds but I don't see that turning him into a half court primary ball handler is the best way to maximize him, the more mental & physical energy he spends pounding the ball above the break the less he's able to create havoc off the ball & on defense
Dillon makes half the money of FVV at the most fittable, sought after role in the NBA (3&D wing defender who guards up or down) - there's no situation where you have too many players of that type, and in fact he's probably the only one the Rockets have
