It was weird to have the starters in that late but I think he was trying to give them more minutes together to try to get comfortable with that line up.
He is a bit older than they were in their second year, but if he gets on a similar trajectory as these guys (which I wouldn't rule out based on his athletic abilities)...I would be happy. I think they are kind of similar - all three freak athletes who get a lot of steals and blocks and can be amazing defenders - all three of them without a good three-point shot at the start of their respective careers.
I definitely could see that, but I have a hard time going that far since Magic is my third favorite player after The Dream and MJ. However, I also think there's some big differences in their games. Magic had incredible finesse and grace for his size. He was really a unicorn in that way. Amen plays with more force than finesse (not saying that's a bad thing). Also, Magic often had to cover forwards to cover for his defensive weaknesses, whereas Amen is a defensive beast that can guard 1 - 5.
And Amen took those minutes and didn’t miss a beat. I love conditioning and mentality. Simply amazing.
Looking very impressive every time he starts and gets major minutes. I would hate to see him play less than 30 mins once Bari and Tari come back.
At this point I he should be in the starting lineup of the Rockets for the next decade. Sheppard Green or Whitmore AmenThompson Eason Jabari Smith Jr This could be the future Rockets "death lineup". What do you think @AroundTheWorld ? Perhaps Mr Sengun softens the other team up but sometimes this lineup is thrown out to give the other team a different look.
I see nothing to indicate our best player - Alperen Sengun - should not be in that lineup. Reed Jalen Amen Tari or Bari Alpi or Reed Amen Tari Bari Alpi should work extremely well. Could also swap Dillon in there for the next 5 years - he is not old. Reed Dillon Amen Tari Alpi Alpi and Amen have amazing chemistry.
Bro lol. I said in my original post it was for a different look. I thought in the Warriors version it was a "small ball" lineup. The PF sliding into the C spot.
How about comparing with AK47, both not very good at shooting but great defender and can pass the ball. 2nd season comparison:
In some facets I see a taller prime MVP Westbrook who’s more under control. If he works on his shot more he truly will be one of those jerseys in the rafters forever. I see the Magic comp too. To me it’s like a hybrid Westbrook/Magic unicorn. Regardless, we struck gold with that pick.
According to Reddick he can probably time travel. He is one percent of one percent of the human population @J.R.
