I thought it was pretty clear Walt's cancer had come back. The MRI, the dented paper towel dispenser that he likely punched, and his total character change after that scene. He ended the empire and made amends with Jesse.

Things that shocked me were Walt trying to poison Lydia and Jesse packing that pistol when he answered the door. I didn't think Walt was trying to tie off any loose ends with Jesse because they share such a close relationship together.

But yeah, the cliffhanger was pretty weak.

only time Breaking Bad has ever let me down. I didn't like how Hank found out.

Looks like it, there is no way his ego could have died out like that.

Btw, was he supposed to give Jesse that money? I thought they were done.

I wouldn't say "weak" so much as "inevitable".

Hank finding out about Walt is the ONLY major plot turn that made sense for ending the first half of the final season. I think we've all just been so spoiled by Breaking Bad taking so many turns that no one expected, that we're now DISAPPOINTED by the show doing exactly what it should have done.

(I pretty much NEVER venture into the Hangout--no offense intended--but I am just another Breaking Bad junkie like the rest of you. Was curious to see what others thought of the summer finale. Was glad I checked. Some nice insight and opinions here.)

When Hank was flipping the pages of the book, at first I thought he was going to find the list of the names that Lydia had given Walt.

But that would have been too much of a home run.

    So...

How much money do you think that was?

    25 million? 50 million? More?

My best guess is around 60M. It looked to be 10 stacks wide on the long side of the bill and appeared to be square which would make it around 23 stacks wide on the short side of the bill. Approximately 50 stacks high, average 50 dollar bill value between various denominations of 20, 50, and 100.

I know - roughest estimate ever.

Edit - just looked at a freeze frame and I would change the 23 to 16. That would make it around 40M

Yep, maybe the creator was a fan.

I like that they kept it simple, I'm satisfied that the episode wasn't a huge cliff-hanger that would just torture us until next year, that said, the only thing worse than waiting for the final stretch is waiting for the NBA season to start.

How will Hank handle it? Will he try to keep it quiet until he builds up a case or will he confront Walt? There could be an ego thing with Hank too because Heisenberg has been his biggest obsession at work, it's basically the case of his life. How will he handle it?

I believe that's still there from when he punched it during a previous visit. I think they were trying to show us how Walt's reaction is different this time around.

On an unrelated note, I'm not sure it's safe for anyone to assume that Walt is actually "out" just because he told Skylar that he is. We didn't really see any proof, did we?

Whether or not he is really out is iffy considering the amount of money he is making now. If he really isn't out and just lying to Skylar again, it's almost impossible for him to hide the cash unless he decides to rent a few of those storage containers that had been using. The laundering scheme would be over so how he would get any use of the money from here on out would be a mystery.

Cliffhanger was not weak. It had to happen. The reason it wasn't weak is because of the subtle communication from the director to the audience. I believe there is intended metaphoric humor in the cliffhanger.

The revelation was huge. It was a "crap hit the fan" moment. Just about everyone's reaction was, "oh crap." substitute the word crap with its explicit counterpart. All the while, hank is taking a s#it.

^^ Agree. Cliffhanger was great. Hank finding this tidbit on Walt only keeps the suspense going. Just when everything seemed dandy at the last scene Hank finds a integral part of the series when taking a dump. LOL. I love the creativity that the writers and producers have done.

I also predict in the end Jesse will somehow save Walt in some form or fashion. My feeling is Todd and his entourage shall trickle through the ranks and try to overthrow Walt. The show tonight reminded us that Walt and Jesse have a history together and they'll play a key part in how this series will end.

    Breaking Bad is AWESOME.

He won't confront Walt yet. He's gotta be about 99% sure now, but not 100%, and he doesn't have evidence.

One of the best seasons for any show I've seen on TV. Really looking forward to the final season.. sucks we're going to have to wait a year.

Yea I'm pretty sure Walt is out the game for good with another series of episodes left next summer . It's a tv show, of course it's not that easy to get out. Just look how he finally decided to get out and now Hank finds a little clue.
