I think Mike did see this scenerio coming to an extent. That's why he was pushing for Sol Goodman to bring him his stuff.

Skylar is ugly and annoying, can't wait til Walt kills her.

Exactly. As soon as the trigger pulled - that IMO was the first time we truly saw Walt again for the first time this season.

Although you're right, that's not what the writers are going for.

They are trying to make Walt what they WANTED to make with Tony Soprano, except the writers gave Tony too many redeeming qualities that had everybody sticking for Tony thru thick or thin.

    Not Heisenberg

    Fun fact:
Fun fact of the episode. Mike's granddaughter's safety deposit box number was 603.

603 is area code for the entire state of New Hampshire.

Same place that Walt ends up in the advance preview.

    Live Free or Die.

Also, that bag that Mike left in the trunk makes me think it will be the same one Walt uses when he has to go on the run. I know you peeped the passport. That's probably the identity he takes on. And probably the same money he uses to cop the M60... I need to rewatch it but was that Mike's old beat up ass car that he arrived to Denny's too????

I thought Jesse might have recognized the song Walt was whistling in a previous episode when Jesse was leaving for home. Perhaps something he heard around the boy when he was poisoning him.

I thought that Hank noticed that Mike was too comfortable in all the pictures. Mike knew that he was being followed and watched, but he was never nervous. I think that made Hank realize that Mike would be a dead end, which led him to the lawyer.

Just finished season 4, about to watch first episode of season 5, but I had to say this:

ARE YOU KIDDING ME WALTER?! REALLY?! THE BERRIES?!

For a minute I thought there were different cars with him in the pictures.

I don't think it was that much of a reach. When I first saw that seen I thought it was something along the same lines. Like he was whistling a song that only Brock and Jesse knew, or maybe a theme to a video game they played. Something along those lines.

I think Jesse was just mad because obviously Walt was not grieving the little boy. Hence the follow up scene this week where Jessie questions the extent to which he is really pissed off.

Just wondering when/how they are going to skip ahead a year (which was shown in the beginning 5 minutes of the first episode). I mean, it be kind of weird to do it in one of the last eight episodes, seeing as how this show goes pretty much minute by minute like 24 does. I guess they'll set up the 1 year skip in the next episode? I can't know how they're going to do it though...

Though I'm annoyed by RR crapping on the show in every post in this thread after he got to season 4 or so, I tend to side with him on this plot point.

I still think it's a great show, but it's not Boardwalk Empire where James Darmody knowingly walks into his death trap because he's already dead inside. Mike didn't fear death, but he didn't want to die...he was content with running and just let his guard down at the wrong time.

From a viewer's perspective, I buy the argument that it was dumb writing...but it's not absolutely terrible. Walt has had his hot head moments in front of Mike, and Walt has shown his mood swings, deceptions, and what not. The thing is, Walt never murdered out of rage to Mike's knowledge...Walt would just take drastic measures when he was put in bad situations. Mike knew Walt was a time bomb, but he honestly didn't think Walt would outright murder him for refusing a request.

I've seen far worse stupid scenes in tv shows that make me change the channel.

The one, truly egregious error Gilligan and co. made in the writing within this show surrounded the issue Jesse had with a street level dealer. What does Gus do? Why, he schedules a sit-down to smooth things over of course. Pretty sure there was a cheese/fruit tray, too...naturally.

Mastermind of an illegal, multinational drug operation supposedly hiding in plain sight doesn't sit down exposed with some "dimebag" cholo unless it's the last meeting dude will ever attend.

I think we'll find out why at the end of this season and start next season where the first 5 minutes of this season started at.

I think Mike didn't really want to live. His life was ruined, his granddaughter was out of reach forever, what else does he have to live for. He was old anyway.

I'm telling you, that first scene of this season is in the season finale. Gilligan has said time and time again that his theme, or idea, was to turn Mr. Chips into Scarface. Pilot, we see Mr. Chips spraying chemicals on a flame. Final episode, we see Scarface with a machine gun. Who he takes on? The DEA? The Cartel? Madrigal? Not sure. But that's how it ends. If I were to guess how it ends, I would guess it ends by Jesse taking Walt out. That's my guess for the final scene. Gilligan wants Walt to suffer consequences, and the strongest connection is with Jesse, not Hank or even Skylar, so my guess is that Jesse shoots Walt in the head, from behind, and that's it (sort of like what happens with Scarface- but maybe he'll throw in a twist).

What will be interesting to see is who else dies. I honestly felt Mike would die, just not this early. I guessed it would be more towards the end. But I have no idea who else, if anyone, will die. My guess would be Gomez. But the main characters, like Hank or Skylar or Marie or Walt Jr., or even Saul? No earthly idea. It'll be great, nonetheless. The only thing I can say that I would bet my life on (or whatever) is that Jesse survives.
