I guess I'm the only one on Earth that thinks Mad Men absolutely sucks. I struggled through two seasons before pulling the plug -- boring. Horrible. Breaking Bad is one of my favorites.. the longer it goes, the harder it is to end it on a good note. This past season would've been a great ending, but I'm excited to see where they go next.
I'm with you. I tried Mad Men for 3 episodes and was bored through every one of them. It just isn't anything special to me. Breaking Bad, however, is one of the best shows I have ever watched.
Mad Men is the best show on television (next to Breaking Bad). You guys should watch more Walking Dead/durrrr.
i'm close to with you, but not all the way there. wouldn't say it sucks...it's decent, but not worthy of the praise that it gets. i'm sure i'll get flamed for this, but i feel that 80% of people just think it's cool to say how great they think it is. anytime somebody tells me they need to rent all the seasons and watch, i advise them to save their time and skip it. sopranos is another show that i have that same opinion of.
Agreed, although I did enjoy the Sopranos. Someone told me the other day that I quit on Mad Men too early, that I needed to give it three seasons for 'character development.' Three seasons? Of what, guys talking in an office and people cheating on each other? It's like Sex and the City for guys. Then again, I love Community and hate The Big Bang Theory, but only one of those is about to get cancelled. I guess it's just me.
So i finally watched all 4 seasons.. S01 was great, S02 almost lost me to be honest, but S03 was very good. S04 was amazing! It was a perfect way to end it. How the hell can there be an extra season(and an extra 3 episodes?) That's why most shows are so lame eventually....they get milked as much as possible...just BS drama created out of no where to keep viewers attention. What? Is Gus gonna have a brother looking for revenge? Is Mike gonna come after them? New cartel leader? Come on.....16 episodes of Walter settling back in to a normal life? Awesome show, just don't see how an extra season will work. Random: The only characters i really hated and wanted to die, were Pinkman in the first 3 seasons b/c i just couldn't take anymore of his stupidity and his "yo, b****!" He was tolerable in S04. But, the one i wish died the most horrible death was Walters wife. I can't stand that b****. Her character gives me more reason to hate women. I swear i am never getting married.
Yeah I just got through the first three seasons. Great show. Probably beats Lost for me. But still not better than The Wire. P.S. I hate that I read spoilers about how ___ kills ___ at the end of season 4.
i suspect the "gus is untouchable" angle and his mysterious chilean past will be the major plot-line in season 5. and hank vs. walt - there has to be a confrontation there next year - either hank dies or he comes to work for walt, thus being the final major character to finally 'break bad'. and jesse vs. walt - obviously the poisoning thing will be an issue. and mike vs. walt - this is probably the one he needs to worry about least. mike is a pragmatic guy and would probably try to work w/ walt rather than seek vengeance for gus death. remember at the pool when mike told jesse "either all of us go home or none of us" - and then gus left him in mexico...it remains to be seen whether mike viewed that as an act of betrayal. and mike and jesse are pretty close now - i think as long as jesse doesnt find out that walt poisoned the kid than mike wont do anything to walt...but if he does find out than whats to stop him from aligning w/ mike, killing walt and taking over the operation? either way i would say season 5 will be good - they know its the end so they wont be afraid to kill off major characters during the course of the season. and im willing to bet that gus will still show up in flashbacks.
Surprised season 2 almost lost you but glad you stuck with it. I'm not really sure where they will go with it next either. I wonder if it's going to be a final showdown between walt and jesse
Marathoned this show over the past month. Smartest show I've ever seen. Awesome death scene with Gus in the season finale. And why not go on? There are plenty of things that these awesome writers could focus on. I trust them implicitly after four seasons of perfection.
Finally finished watching this season. It's the best season of any TV show I've ever seen. Spoiler I can't believe Walt poisened that kid. ****ed up stuff.
Just finished watching 8 straight hours of season 4. Watching it on my laptop with headphones on cause wifey is on season 3. I literally screamed when the explosion happened. Scared the hell out of my wife and the puppy! I knew Walt had something to do with the kids poisoning. Season 5 - Walt's cancer comes back and he doesn't have enough money so he heads the operation now. More so cause he is starting to enjoy the power then the money aspect. My favorite show of all time is Dexter (only if you count the first four seasons) with BB being a close second. If next season of BB is great then it definitely puts it over Dexter for me, as Dexter's last two seasons have been okay.
i really hope season 5 focuses on walt vs hank and hank getting closer and closer to figuring out heisenberg is walt and walt jumping through hoops to evading hank's trail. i think that could bring some awesome story lines and tension to the show that will be lost with the death of el pollo loco.
you think he goes back to cooking? or is the whole season about walt evading hank, and jesse being jesse. hope mike comes back somehow also.
FINALLY...I finally caught up! HOLY WOW! I started watching this back in September/October and JUST finished season 4 less than an hour ago. I've been avoiding this thread for months just so I wouldn't get spoiled. I even told a couple friends about it, who told their friends (what is this, a pyramid scheme?) and got about a dozen or so folks watching it after I stumbled upon it -- they all finished season 4 well over a month ago. Anyway, some thoughts/questions for next season: 1a. Spoiler Mike ends up working with people in Mexico (connections via makeshift hospital staff) 1b. Spoiler Mike gets caught/captured by cartel in Mexico 2. Spoiler Hank will obviously follow up on Gus and his chicken business (which, btw, I could never figure out how they weren't investigated earlier when MULTIPLE chicken delivery trucks were shot up and deserted on public roads). That computer was connected to surveillance cameras which, in my mind, would be likely to have recorded and saved videos of Jesse and/or Walt on the hard drive. 3. Spoiler When Gus was being interviewed by the Albuquerque police, didn't he mention how Gale Boetticher was a recipient of the scholarship (named after his first "Hermano"/pseudo gay lover)? Correct me if I'm wrong, but Gus said Boetticher wasn't the first (nor possibly the last) to be a recipient of that scholarship. Which unknown characters may have received it (though I suppose if there was another potential cook he/she would have already been brought in after Gale's murder)?
It is. It is the most well written show I have ever watched and the character progression of both Walt and Jesse is brilliantly scripted and acted. Best show on TV right now by far.
Good for you with waiting. It was absolute torture wading through the molasses of the first half of this season.
Though it was entertaining, Gus 'zombie walk' was pretty dumb. This show flirts with 'over the top moments all the time but ever really crosses the line too badly. That time it just said '**** it' and flew right over it. Having said that, still an awesome show I look forward to S5.
