Who would have thought that a man with the nickname "STAT" would write such an appreciative letter to the fans of a team he just left? Props to Amare for doing it the right way.

People around Amare did this. It was pretty easy for those professional PR guys. LeBron is surrounded by idiots.

Everything ever written would be better if it were read live by James Earl Jones with lasers and fireworks in the background.

Amar'e's PR guy: "Do you want me to write a nice departing letter for you? It'll make you look good."

    Amar'e: "Yea, sure."

PR guy: "Done. Do you want to proofread it?"

    Amar'e: "What does proofread mean?"

PR guy: "Umm... okay. I'll take care of it."

At least Amare didn't say, "I'm taking my talents to the Big Apple... joining the New York Knicks!" With a national audience watching and laughing.

LeBron should be so shamed of himself for the way he treated Cleveland and their fans.

"The Decision" should have been 1 minute long announcement in the beginning, and a 59 minute long apology letter to Cleveland fans.

    Spysta,

Yea, while I don't think "he only did it" because of Lebron's approach, I am with you in that I think Amare capitalized on the moment. Much like the third and fourth tier free agents who took advantage of the excess of NBA capital this summer (Drew Gooden, Amir Johhnson, Hakeem Warrick), Amare's goodbye sharply contrasts with and thus takes advantage of the wreckage left behind after "The Decision." His appreciation of Phoenix looks good against the backdrop of Lebron's nonchalance toward Cleveland.
